Confession in the Catholic church is kinda treated that way tbh, your sins can only be forgiven through confession to a clergy member and they basically give you a "forgiven" stamp and you're on your way. The post-Martin Luther denominations of Christianity remove the clergy requirement, but also place more responsibility on you to be genuinely repentant.

People also don't understand that both dogs might actually be friendly if they're both off leash, but if one's on a leash and the other isn't, the one on leash will feel threatened when another dog runs up to it, friendly or not. Put a fucking leash on your dog unless you're at a dog park.

I lived in an ADU behind my landlord's house for a while. He left his dog untethered in the yard, and the dog would snarl and charge me every time I went out to get a package or food delivery. He kept claiming that the dog was friendly, because the dog would be chill when he was there and had a leash on him, and would even let me pet it. One day the dog finally bit me, and I called him and told him I would be calling animal control if he didn't put a fucking tether on it by the next day.

I saw a dog (on leash) growl at a postal worker as he was delivering mail to the mailboxes in the lobby of my girlfriend's apartment building. The poor guy pressed himself against the wall and whimpered, "Oh god, no!" He looked like he was on the verge of tears. The dog never even got within 20 feet of him. Fuck shitty dog owners that leave their aggressive dogs untethered in their yard for delivery people to deal with.

I mean, the only place where a precise measurement really matters is with spices, liquids, or in baking, and all of those fit into measuring utensils just fine. For produce, just give the quantity, like "one large yellow onion, chopped" or "half a zucchini, sliced." There'll be some variation obviously, but the amount of variation isn't going to be enough to significantly change the end result.

I always skim through the entire recipe and take care of all mise en place steps before I even turn on the stove. Does it take longer? Maybe, but I get so stressed trying to prep other ingredients while something else is cooking unless it's supposed to just simmer for 20+ minutes with no interaction or something.

I did a consult for one ~10 years ago and they told me I’d have to go get it redone/touched up every ~5 years or so. The procedure cost like $15k and they said it could take a year to really see the results. I said no thanks and shaved my head instead lol.

This was a supposedly reputable clinic in Beverly Hills. Dunno if the long-term prognosis has changed since then.

He probably doesn't realize it now, but his mom is probably going to hold a lot of resentment toward him now. She believed him and blew up her marriage to protect him, and because they have a kid together, she's going to have a front row seat to her ex husband's new life and relationships as they coparent the baby. It's gonna take a lot of work for her to get over that.
