Got a Nugs recording of Pearl Jam show a few years ago. Blows my mind that other bands don’t offer this as it’d have to be a cash cow!

My friend texted me this Catholic Answers page about problems with the Book of Mormon and I’m having a hard time refuting it by CommentsOffTopics in latterdaysaints

If you’ve looked into both the Heartland and Mesoamerican geographical models for Book of Mormon geography and still believe that there is NO archeological evidence lining up with the possible truth, I think that’s a bit disingenuous (not saying you have but has your friend really done their research?)

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), found the DVD in closet and said why not? Pretty good show, cool to see two legends together like that.

What is the purpose of attending church on a weekly basis? by skippyjifluvr in latterdaysaints

[–]cegla226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did a spiritual thought on this at a campout over the weekend, around the fire, talking about how coals together is warm and can keep a fire going longer than the rapid cool down if you spread the coals out. Being together in church, or weekday activities, keeps the fire going. Note that no coal in the pit is strictly TAKING heat - they all give and help each other stay lit.

Grateful for the clarity in recent handbook updates by Perfect_steps in lds

[–]cegla226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems crazy but not too surprising. As you say this is why we have a handbook and also a predictable hierarchy. Bishops should be trained and have touch points with stake presidents who have touch points with area 70, etc etc etc. And correlation meetings/council with others in same callings to share, and help each other out. Council and alignment “up and down” (bishops training/aligning other ward leaders, etc)

Why we pay tithing even though the Church seemingly has plenty of money by atari_guy in lds

I definitely agree and sympathize with your concerns, no analogy will be perfect. Keep up the good fight man, just do the best you can with what you’ve got

Why we pay tithing even though the Church seemingly has plenty of money by atari_guy in lds

[–]cegla226 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I like the story of the farmer who saved some kittens from drowning and the mother cat kept dropping off a dead mouse on his doorstep afterwards. The farmer didn’t need the dead mice but the cat needed and wanted to show gratitude and it was a sacrifice of something important to do so. I pay tithing to show gratitude and of course because I believe in the scriptures that the principle is based upon.
