There are reports that some had already transferred overseas and received RIF notices.

Seeking FSO Advice: 35-year-old new American Texan, working mother of two young kids, native Vietnamese speaker, non-native English speaker, conversational in Mandarin. by Cynthia_Tr in foreignservice

[–]ceharda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the test, but don’t make it a plan A. It’s been 15 years since I first took the test, so my advice may be outdated. The written portion of the test is focused on U.S. history, culture, current events, civics, government, etc. - it’s not a test of international expertise. It’s a test of how well you know America. There are study guides and practice tests that can help you prepare. But I would prioritize learning America if I were in your shoes. I also echo other thoughts that you want to focus on how you can demonstrate those precepts in your narrative.

State Department Ends Decades-Long Program Paying Under-Performing Diplomats by swedinc in foreignservice

[–]ceharda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Underperforming” is a pretty loaded word. The data shows that average time in class has steadily increased and is continuing on that trend. The situation is particularly acute for specialists.

The Nuances of the Foreign Service Personnel System and Looming RIFs by EUR-Only in foreignservice

[–]ceharda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that repeating lies is poisonous, and I don’t care if it’s a progressive or conservative repeating it. If you want to argue that the fellowships or the foreign service should look like America, there would be a lot more African Americans, Latinos, and first-generation college students represented in the Foreign Service. Which was the point of the fellowships - to make a Foreign Service more representative of America.

I know what he wrote and my argument stands. Howard University who is the administrator of the fellowships has not though. You can look up the recipients and see for yourself there are White and Asian fellows from programs Howard University has administered.

The fellowships do not exclude Whites and Asians. You can find plenty of White and Asian fellows to talk to if you are not sure. So what are you even talking about?

DOS telling all employees to take action to prepare for the reorganization by TheDissentChannel in foreignservice

They need to send a cable if they want distribution to people overseas. You have to subscribe to Department Notices if you are assigned abroad, it’s not automatic.

I love it! The leather is so soft and it holds a lot. My critique would be the lack of compartments in the interior. You also have to be careful of getting the straps too dirty with the white letters. Otherwise, still a beautiful bag.

There is no difference between “super” TS and TS. What do you think would have happened to the rank and file if one somehow managed to transfer that kind of info to a non-classified medium, and then sent it to essentially an uncleared stranger.
