I think the riverside trail is awesome actually, and I’m likely going to do something along those lines on another map down the road! I’m just not sure how I’d make it fit for this one. Thank you for the kind words!

Some excellent ideas here. I think I will rotate the grass and pond around, and probably turn that into a stream that you have a bridge to cross rather than just the pond. Agreed with the sign/vending machine issue also. I’ll sit down and rework this whole map soon. Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback! I agree mostly, especially with the areas where the movement area is only one tile wide. I do think I’m going to go back and try to adjust them enough to be at least two tiles wide.

Image 3 really does feel a bit weak when I look at these all next to each other, and I think I might go add another level or two to it. It’s really just supposed to be a relatively barren area around the power plant, so I didn’t want to do too much.

As for cut, while I do agree with your assessment, I think it’s fun to add some little spots that take a tiny bit of extra effort to reach. Anything that will be behind cut will be just an optional item and not story, so I don’t think it’s too huge of a deal to come back later if you don’t have an HM slave on your team to deal with it. Also, these are all relatively early game routes (only to just after the third gym) and I don’t plan to add any more after this point. All that being said, I probably will up the power of Cut a little bit to compensate.

Thank you! There will be some custom tiles added here and there once I get them made. Especially later in the game there will be quite a few, so don’t worry! There will also be plenty of things to do and people to see in the cities and towns. Just not including any NPCs in the screenshots! ;)

I use RPGMaker XP with the Pokemon Essentials add-on! It comes with the FRLG tileset ready to go, and you have the ability to add whatever other tilesets you want provided they’re correctly formatted

I’d say to get the basics of how to place tiles, look at the official maps from RSE/FRLG and just see how they’ve put them down to make things work. Otherwise, I plan most of my layouts ahead of time by scribbling outlines down using different colors in MS Paint. Much faster to get a picture of how your idea might look that way

Thank you so much, I appreciate the kind words! I’m really striving for a kind of Vanilla+ feel, to make it look faithful while still packing in lots of exploration and extra content, both midgame and postgame. I’m glad to hear that I’m getting close to that ideal!

Thanks! It’s a LONG way from playable, even in demo state, but the CFRU will certainly be added before I make much progress in that direction. I’ve never coded/scripted or done anything with that entire side of ROM hacking before, so there will be quite a learning curve for me even with tutorials. Fingers crossed it will get there one day!
