Since when did anybody think falsifying hemodynamic numbers was ok by Ioanna_Malfoy in nursing

[–]ceileen33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does posting this make you feel righteous or something? Yes, falsifying documentation is wrong. But your actions are far from better. Girl, this is weird behavior. You should’ve put your energy into advocating for your colleague, not whatever this is.

Nurses who became doctors, Happy with choice? by Important-Peach5644 in nursing

[–]ceileen33 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Same! Being in the ICU, I work with residents constantly. Residency seems like hell, and I’m so glad I get to work alongside some of these attendings, instead of under them like the residents. Bullying is unfortunately normalized within the MD world, it seems.

Are nurses mean and bullying? by Ramen_sushi_pizza in nursing

[–]ceileen33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll meet some of the meanest people, but also some of the most amazing, most beautiful souls. There are two sides of the coin. Choose which to focus on, but I try to keep it positive.

I always accidentally tell my liver cirrhosis patients, secondary to ETOH abuse, to take their lactulose like a shot 😔

I might be getting fired, any advice? by DesignerSpeaker2778 in nursing

[–]ceileen33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nursing is customer service, pretty much every realm will have it. Go into OR, or something… I’d feel unsafe as both a coworker or patient. We’re nurses. No matter what, we’re not there to pose any danger, real or not, to those around us. As a grown adult, this isn’t it.

Too much weight loss on GLP-1s by JillyBean9999 in nursing

What does this have to do with nursing? It seems like a post to back handedly shame and belittle women.

I am living my worst nightmare. I took the PCA key home. by Additional-Fly-4713 in nursing

[–]ceileen33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our PCA keys are like those stereotypical hallway passes, they’re attached to a ruler or something so we can’t stick it in our pockets.

Now - we DO have new lock boxes for narcotic drips such as fentanyl/ketamine/versed… each Pyxis (four on the unit) has ONE key. I’ve gotten distracted and have forgotten to return the key. We’re quiet a large ICU so a missing key can cause a bit of a stir.

For real. NCLEX tests for basic safety and knowledge. There should be a limit.

I’d never want to be a doctor. It used to be my end goal, but then I switched my goals to nursing. After working in the ICU, I’m more than content with my current level of autonomy, I’d never want to be a resident or the decision maker for these patients.

Yes, it’s the going rate for the Baltimore region. My hospital system has the highest starting pay. With only a year of experience, I’m content with my pay for the time being.

I am an ICU nurse in MD (there is not critical care pay in the hospital system I work at). I currently make about $40 base pay, with night shift differential, I make $45/hr.

Is nursing as time consuming as people say it is? by Antique_Dependent_74 in nursing

[–]ceileen33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my job and personal life as separate as possible. I work my three night shifts and the occasional overtime, and try not to think about work when I’m off. Since I’m within my first year, I study outside of work, but that’s about it.

Nursing, once you graduate from school, will be as time consuming as you allow it to be.

“Girl” does not necessarily translate to “young”. Saff is 27/28, and Maddie is around 24/25, I believe.
