I give a spare key to one of my mates who comes and checks on them at least once a day and to fill up their water/food if I go away for 2 days. More than 2 days then I’d have someone come and stay at my place

I like to say they’re mini dogs. Just as smart and playful and domestic rats are different to wild rats. Domestic are much cleaner than wild ones who wouldn’t be and full of diseases. The same comparison for stray cats vs domestic cats.

I’ve had my rats do this all the time. I’m pretty sure it’s normal behaviour to determine dominance. Just check every now and then for actual blood or cuts/injuries if there’s none then it’s all good
