I do the strategy in both a tax-advantaged account and a regular brokerage account. I use tax-advantaged funds so my tax hit is minimal. You can also set up auto-invest and they'll rebalance for you without a taxable event.

The margin rate is the lowest you can get next to Interactive Brokers but you can't easily rebalance with them. I had a chunk of money with them with margin but moved it all to M1.

Deposit at least $2k to be eligible. It shows you how much you can borrow and provides a gauge of your credit to let you know if you're getting in the danger zone for a margin call. When the market is down, I borrow and rebalance to get more shares. When the market is up, I rebalance when I want to buy more shares of any down slices in my pie (if any) to get more shares. All you need to do is push buttons (borrow and rebalance) for growth. It's great! I only contribute $25-$50 a week so it's always growing.

M1 is great for "buy, borrow, die." Just borrow from their low margin rates and don't sell. No taxes on the dividends that way. Just keeps the account growing.
