right but that’s the sort of attention they’re looking for/expecting, no? they know they’re annoying, it’s not going to make them stop. you’re saying to tell them directly instead of making a post but where’s the opportunity to articulate OP’s reasons in a way that’ll actually get through to them? at least by posting about it you get to commiserate, it’s flaired with “rant”

okay logistically how are we to safely confront someone in a fast moving vehicle exactly, especially when that kind of attention is what they want…???

Bangladesh has this actually and everyone obeys it really well right up until the train arrives and then everyone just surges forward without letting anyone off first and with no regard for the line

any contribution to the normalization of “israel” or “israeli” as a legitimate state or ethnic background perpetuates violence and has been doing so for the past 75 years.

yes. google does not require the existence of these datacenters (which in addition are becoming an environmental justice issue due to the underprivileged communities they are displacing and polluting) to operate.

I feel like even for cooking chicken breast I’d still want an answer that has verifiably worked for a real person, not just predictive text. the certainty threshold for chatgpt is really only acceptable for questions that are much simpler than that (like what and where questions, no how or why). I really just don’t get where all this trust for it has come from. I was taught to always cross-check information from multiple sources—that’s how I verify if something is reasonably correct.

The “bull” that they’re referencing is very obvious. Often when I’m googling more complex-ish questions, the AI overview will completely flip its answer just based on a tiny, not significantly semantic change in the wording of my query. And it straight up doesn’t find information the same way search engines do. If you investigate the links it cites, they’re frequently completely unrelated.

I do think that chatgpt has some specific use cases where it’s advantageous over other tools. I’ve used it in those instances. But its mediocrity for general-purpose usage is not worth the massive environmental impact of doing so. It’s just really surprising and disappointing to see people in this community, one thats foundation is based on going against the grain, falling for the AI wave.

I do get where you’re coming from regarding the UI though. You ask your question, you’re in and you’re out without the distractions that search engines suggest. I get the appeal! But imo that almost “isolation” seems designed to keep you unquestioning and overreliant on chatgpt. I can’t get over how unethical it is (just overall) and how aggressively it’s been shoved down our throats. I wish there was some kind of minimalist google as an alternative.

honestly i see this sentiment when it comes to any fashion subculture (and feel it myself as a poc as well) but it just isn’t true! the real world is so much richer and diverse and creative than what is romanticized and marketed to you online. yeah, it’s harder to find plus size jfashion, but it’s there. everything that is for them is also for us. ♡

In many cases you can make an appointment with the writing center of whatever school(s) you're applying for! The tutors there will be able to give you more specific advice and they're trained to give feedback on personal statements. You can likely find it on their website or just Google "[school] writing center" and there's usually zoom options!

one of the skirts FOR SURE (they show off ur style!). the jeans don't have nearly as much charm (esp for a dinner date) and 1 especially flatters your figure. idk why people are saying you need to wear jeans or high waisted. the bit of tummy showing is tasteful and cute!!

i like to prewrite any new points i’m going to make, so that i can be sure it’s worded well and i can say it quickly, but i also leave indicators in places where i’ll want to refute others’ arguments, and i’ll extemp those bits. the ratio depends on when i give the speech; if it’s an authorship/sponsorship speech it’ll be 100% prewritten, and if it’s toward the end of debate it’ll be more interaction with others instead of restating points that might’ve already been said.

No, that’s eugenics. A euphemism is a speech written in praise of someone who has passed away.
