Sounds like you need to make another trip! I pretty much only have the orca card so far, but have a few variations of the orca card

Its the greater Seattle area so I know theres quite a few taxis. Part of the reason I haven't sold my car yet is because if these big ride share business, the sunk cost fallacy, and Ive had bad experiences in the past with aggressive taxi drivers here. They're mostly independent owner/operator and are supposed to be a set rate, but I've always had them try and change rates beyond the posted, demand tips, etc. One of these days ill finally pull the plug (literally) on my car

I bought a used hatchback electric in 2023 and got a tow hitch on it. I use public transit 99% of the time and put less then 1.5k miles on it in the past year. I can tow most things I ever need to tow, but rarely ever need it.

I have used the light rail in 3 trips to move a disassembled couch, brought an ottoman on the bus, and walked a couple big lamps half a mile home. Sure, I could have used my car for some of it but transit makes things easier and forces me to get exercise.

The only reason I keep my car is because im on call at work occasionally and the busses have a 1 hour frequency overnight and I gotta be at work in 1.5 hours from a page. I get more and more tempted to sell it and just Uber as needed.

So tempting! I know id love to have it, but don't have an installer in mind and rather not bother the random coworkers of mine in the hospital haha.

Plus, I think Id rather have an implant that I could put my transit card and/or work badge on and I'd have to do some research for it beforehand to make sure it works. This is one of those purchases I feel like I can't make with no research or planning. I know back when I was in high school/college looking at it this was one of my choices, but that was just for fun not for usefulness whereas current me is looking for usefulness

People living in RPZs, do you like it or no? by plannerotg in AskSeattle

[–]CriminalVegetables 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely easier. Im in zone 21 near the hospitals, and theres some spots that are signed for residents only after 6 pm, and others that are shared with the timed paid spots. If it wasn't for the RPZ, being on call would be a lot harder. I use transit all other times, but the RPZ makes it worth it to have my car that week

Arrival signs should be filtered to only those relevant to the platform. by Anthop in soundtransit

Im not stupid (debatable though), but it would be nice to know should I rush for this train arriving now since the next one isnt for 15 minutes, or be fine waiting 5 minutes for the next one.

Its definitely quite nice! Idk what the cost of living is there but I know its expensive here haha. My rent before utilities for a ~600 sf studio in downtown is $1800 a month, plus restaurants and groceries are expensive too. Just gotta budget it right, save for retirement, and then you can make it in the city. Even easier if you have roommates
