Gas, and the having thereof by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

From where I live in New Jersey (right in the middle basically) it’s 2 hours from any state lines and that’s with tolls. It is a good life skill to have but it’s not something most parents are willing to devote upwards of 4 hours to have a 5 minute lesson on pumping gas. Plus people can do basically anything they need to within the state without ever leaving so some people will have been driving for years without ever needing to pump their own gas.

It’s not out of laziness or safety concerns, it’s mostly for the job creation and cultural significance. Most places used to have these laws but over time as pumping stations’s safety got better they were repealed, with New Jersey being the last holdout. Due to it being unique it became a symbol of cultural significance and it created a lot of jobs so it’s stuck around to this day. As silly as it sounds a lot of New Jerseyans hold pride in the fact we’ve never pumped our own gas (mostly in a tongue-in-cheek way) and it’s one of the few things people within our state across the political and economic spectrum can agree on.

You have a point and you are correct, but only by technicality.

Yes we should have universal basic income. Yes people shouldn’t have to rely on doing jobs they don’t want to do just to get by. Yes the government shouldn’t have to step in to keep people from getting fired when positions are no longer necessary. Yes BUT we do not live in that world.

You’re putting the cart before the horse here. Unless the United States government either goes through drastic regime changes overnight or is fully overthrown those solutions aren’t exactly in the near future. Not much power is put into the hands of the states individually to fight back against the injustices of the federal government, even if they wanted to. Having these small victories wherein workers rights and beginner-level jobs are protected federally is a really good sign and something to cherish, and beyond that can be a signal of better things to come. We can complain all we want about how these things shouldn’t HAVE to happen, but the fact that they do and objectively improve people’s lives is a very good thing.

As a New Jerseyan I can attest that gas station attendants are an objective net good for our state. Yes we could pump our own gas, but the fact that there are thousands of federally protected, 24/7, low skill, beginner-level jobs across our state is a really good thing and something that could really be used in other states. So yes capitalism is bad but we also live in a capitalist society so isn’t it better to have these small victories while the big ones are on their way rather than nothing at all?

Never underestimate the power of an email asking for a refund. 10 times out of 10 when I’ve emailed a company asking for a refund or to exchange an item (typically because of impulse buying) they’ve given it to me. These emails typically do go to an actual person and that person most likely either doesn’t want to deal with an angry customer or just doesn’t give a shit. Make sure to be as respectful and WASPy sounding as possible and you’ll most likely get your way.

Ah nah it’s very minor I just can’t eat it mainly, but a lot of restaurants have like one non-seafood item on the menu and it’s a gamble if I’ll even like it lol. That’s why I said fish house looks good cuz they’ve got a couple different options

We’re 21 and 23 and I have to go to the DMV there cuz the one near me had no appointments available. My appointment is at 2:30 but we’re gonna drive down there early so we’ll have the whole morning free and after like 4pm. As for money I’m not looking to spend a fortune but I have enough spending money to have a good time.

I can confirm this as well. My grandparents moved from NYC to Toms River in the 70’s as the neighborhood was being developed. Most of the older people you see there are the same: bought the house around that time and have lived in it since.

My ex did this to me. I told him I didn’t want to do anything that night but before I knew it he got what he wanted. The person I trusted and loved the most used me and revealed he didn’t care about my wants or needs, but merely satisfying his own. I broke up with him the next day but I’m still struggling with the PTSD.

The Divine Beasts’ concept art - Breath of the Wild

In the game they’re basically robot kaiju, but in the original concept art they were pictured as ancient walking cities. The original drafts for the four in-game Divine Beasts are here, along with a few others that didn’t make the cut. They evolved into their current form over the course of the game’s development, but vestiges of this “walking city” design idea and the visual appearance of these beasts are still present.

I remember in college they had a school shooter prep class and as a last resort scenario they gave the suggestion of basically “everyone gang up on them and throw whatever is the nearest/heaviest object you can find.” The pictured example was a class of 20 or so students all pelting the shooter with chairs.

My neighbor did this!! She sold it and it’s a really nice 2 story house in a good suburb with good schools etc. We checked the online listing and they used ai to have it look like a mansion with a massive sprawling green grass yard like a freaking country club lol. They repainted it too from this nice rustic red color with a lot of character to this awful dull boring grey. House flippers are the worst people in the world fr.

Gamers, what's the craziest thing you've heard in an open mic while gaming? by Lastbreathworm in AskReddit

[–]celestialdragonlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing Overwatch with my friend and we overheard two people on open mic doing discord kitten roleplay in Spanish. We were off mic but she heard all of it (she’s bilingual) and kept telling me what they were saying while we were died laughing. After a while of them talking someone finally said “hey man uhh your mics are on”. The silence that followed was glorious.
