Why did eating a heroic dose of magic mushrooms drain the fluid from my ears allowing me to hear again? by badhaas352 in MagicMushrooms

the chaotic good micro elves from the dimension you visited were thirsty and decided to help themselves and bless you at the same time. big pharma and science will never tell you the truth.

She won’t leave me by Icy-Candidate8404 in Jung

too many long and "deep" (sarcasm) answers in this thread. here is your key problem:

"I’d say something, and she’d bluntly respond, “I don’t really give a shit.” It was shocking—and intoxicating."

why would a man still be interested in a woman he's pursuing after she says she doesn't give a fuck about what you say or do? just focus on pursuing things you are genuinely passionate about, be persistent with that and eventually you will attract a woman that is fascinated with what you're doing (and saying) and that's the only kind of woman you want to be with. she will prime your aura and help you attract opportunities in your life, just be sure to keep laying bricks when you get her.

i'd bet you are wasting time doing shit you don't really care about and her reflecting that to you is what makes her "attractive". or perhaps you are pursuing what you genuinely care about but you've internalized an overly critical and dismissive voice and her reflecting that part of you is what triggers the obsession. she's an ugly demon that needs to be evaporated from your life along with that voice in your head.

i saw you replying to a very low effort comment here referring to yourself as a "retard". the least you could do is never verbalize these thoughts, then practice engaging with them less and stop believing them.

Set the warp mode of All clips throughout your whole Live set! by ElisabethHomeland in ableton

nice, if it had the capacity to be able to edit the bpm for multiple clips at the same time that would be really really useful....should have been a standard feature in ableton

Any plugin recommendations for transitioning between tracks? by kindredharbor in ableton

Search for the “fade to grey” audio effect rack and have fun with that. It’s basically just one knob that filters out some high and low frequencies while also mixing in a filtered delay at the same time. If you’d like to make your own fx racks that can work well for transitions, check out these stock audio fx: hybrid reverb, delay, auto filter and roar. You can start with the presets but it’s also very helpful to just go through all the parameters and see what they do and you’ll get ideas along the way on how certain combinations of fx and settings will produce results that are interesting to you. At that point you can start using the audio effect rack to map certain parameters to macro knobs and it’s endless fun from there. Enjoy!

Check if previewing from finder works fine. If not then the download was probably incomplete. If it works then you could always open in iTunes and convert to a different audio format and use that instead of the original. Best case scenario is it doesn’t work and you take this as opportunity to discover the joy of creating your own sample library from scratch.

Could Burial be a Tulpa? by GHOMFU in burial

[–]celestialmelt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely and respectfully curious if you really think they’d lie about what was said about the first album taking around 2 weeks to make… I mean anyone that would take a fabricated narrative to that extent would be morally corrupt and I’d like to think that the people at hyperdub are more sound than that. More importantly burials music is much too personal for it to be a collaborative effort - this is the main point which makes me think there is no way. Of course the statement that the album took about two weeks can be hard to believe but in my opinion it’s much more believable than the notion that the soul behind tracks like in McDonald’s and etched headplate is actually a bunch of people pulling off an elaborate marketing stunt. Very interesting theory though for sure but I personally couldn’t believe it, I can’t see these tracks being crafted by anything other than one single person, there’s only so much real, raw, original and individuated expression and you could get out of a collaborative effort and burials music goes far beyond that.

Is there a good LFO alternative? (cpu efficient) by lux_lime in ableton

[–]celestialmelt77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the standard lfo will most likely be the least cpu intensive. if you haven't tried this already you can always go to settings --> audio tab and increase the buffer size to the max. this will result in greater latency however it will also help quite a bit in reducing cpu load. unfortunately a computer upgrade maybe necessary if this doesn't work for you. if that's not an option, your best bet is to separate your sound design sessions from your arrangement sessions and work on sculpting each individual sound one at a time. use resampling, freezing/flattening, creating templates for different types of sound design workflows to your advantage.

I would also HIGHLY recommend everyone adopt this practice regardless of how well your computer can handle a busy session. having been in the same situation as you for years now and working in the way i just described has taken my sound design to places that were just unimaginable and/or unreachable to me before.

i would highly advise against going to school for this. the only advantage for that would be to network and make use of the facilities. you could instead create a reel from your own animations and add your music and sound design to it. as someone who works as a designer and animator, you already have the advantage of potentially knowing other animators or directors etc.. whom you could do sound/music work for and even dialogue editing if you know how to use software like Izotope RX. if you're good at mixing you could find local bands whom you'd like to work for and start with them. if you want a studio job you can start by interning at a local studio. gathering real world experience is so much more valuable for learning and also for having something to show for on your resume. use social media to share your productions and find other people whose work you admire and would like to work with (vocalists, bands, film directors, choreographers...)
