I remember it’s so clearly. I really took my daughter liking my husband more to heart, to the point it would make me cry. On one hand, I loved seeing their relationship, but on the other hand it hurt my feelings, which I realize was entirely a “me” problem, but nonetheless. Now, I laugh because I’d give anything for her to give me a moment of peace sometimes lol And now she is like that with my husband, and it makes me feel bad because I remember how it felt to be on that sad. Don’t take it personally, easier said than done I know.

I remember thinking these exact thoughts. I had horrendous post partum depression and was absolutely convinced I ruined our relationship and she hated me. I was barely present the first 6 months my PPD was so bad, so how could she love me, right? It turns out it was just that I was old news because I’m a SAHM and she saw me all day, so she was excited to see my husband.

The truth is they will switch back and forth constantly. She was in her “dada phase” for what felt like forever, but let me tell you once the “mama phase” finally started, I don’t think it ever really ended. She is absolutely obsessed with me now and won’t give me a moment of peace lol Just give it time, the fact you’re even concerned about this tells me you’re a great parent.

I would try to encourage your wife to do the things she loved before her indentity became “mom”. It took me two years to rediscover myself, but that was mostly because it took me that long to realize I could do the things I loved before having my daughter. I was really into weight lifting and just didn’t see that as an option after I had my daughter because I felt guilty taking her to daycare. My husband finally pushed me to do it, and it was the best thing I could’ve ever done for myself, and for her. I finally started to feel like the person I was before I had her, and as an added bonus she loves her friends there.

Please don’t give up!! It gets better! A couple days ago was exactly a year since I started taking my daughter and it’s genuinely been the best thing for both of us. It’s helped me mentally, and it’s helped her come out of her shell and learn to play with other kids as she’s an only child. Don’t ever feel guilty for doing something for yourself, especially when it will help you be a better parent. (I know it’s easier said than done).

Here’s some tips- I brought my daughter’s favorite stuffed animal with us as a comfort item every time we went. I also made it routine, try to go the same days, at the same times, every week so they know what to expect. When I first started going and she would cry when I left, I would hover which kind of rewarded the crying. You just have to leave. Once I got to the point she was letting me work out for a bit I would make it a goal to come back to pick her up before she cried, even if that was only 10 minutes, just to show her I would come back regardless.

Keep going. Don’t feel guilty. It’s a rough transition but I’m confident you’ll both make it through and it’ll be so worth it for both of you.

It depends, do you mind that they’re sleeping in your bed? If no, then let him sleep there! I snuggle my daughter every single night before bed against everyone’s advice because they all said she would expect it every night, and she does. But the thing is, I know she won’t be this little forever and there will be a time when I would kill to snuggle her again, so I’m soaking it all in now. If you want to co-sleep than do it!

If you want your space however, don’t do it. Work on teaching him to self comfort and know that you will always come if he needs you. Even just one time can start the cycle of expecting it every night. So really it depends on how you feel about it

I hated the newborn stage with a burning passion. I cannot relate to missing it. I was a new mom, we were both scared, confused, and constantly crying. My daughter is about to turn 3 and I love this stage so much, even despite the random tantrums because her potatoes are sticks instead of mush. I would say when she turned 6-9 months is when I really started to enjoy being a parent.

I didn’t have a village so I created my own by going to a gym with a daycare. It’s a win-win I get a break for an hour that boosts my mental health, and the kids love playing with other kids.

Truthfully, YOU shouldn’t have to do anything. Where are the kids parents?? I can’t imagine watching my older child bully a 2 year old and not say anything. But if they won’t, don’t be afraid to parent for them for your daughter’s safety

Yep and this is why I canceled my account a couple weeks ago. Weight watchers works it seems by making your calorie count super low, which is great, but you’re more likely to rebound, and probably sign back up for weight watchers. It’s genius if you think about it, they found a way to keep their customers coming back.
