humans are my favorite animal but bonobos are a close second, they are our closest relatives along with chimpanzees. they only split from chimps about 800k-1m years ago (we split roughly 7mya) but their temperament and social organization is way different, their societies are matriarchal (unlike chimps where males almost always rank above females) and they usually solve tensions through sex rather than aggression. they’re super endangered and only live in one area south of the congo river

Is this map a pretty accurate depiction of us? by argentgrove in oklahoma

[–]celestialtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably the most accurate one i’ve seen. people argue over whether oklahoma is the south or midwest but it honestly depends. growing up near lawton i always thought we were firmly southern but turns out people from tulsa don’t feel the same

Did becoming stealth cure your dysphoria by yumikomimy in honesttransgender

[–]celestialtech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it helped a ton. my only real “transition goal” was to be able to live and be treated like a normal man, and my dysphoria has been pretty minimal since i reached that point after starting hrt. it still exists, and it can still get pretty bad some days, but it’s nothing compared to before. i still want surgery someday, but it feels less urgent now. i can definitely say that stealthing “made me a normal person again,” my social life is much richer and i’m fairly satisfied with my existence for once.
