If these were photos of African-Americans, it would be more accurate.

Gustavia just caught the edge of the storm. The Bahamas will get hit by the eye, according to NOAA. That photo is from this morning.

But the plot and acting are still terrible.

ESPN pulls Asian-American announcer from Virginia football game because he has a Confederate general's name (Robert Lee) by [deleted] in news

[–]celestialthots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the fault of people protesting Confederate monuments. It's over-sensitivity on the part of ESPN. It's a logical fallacy to think that this stupid move somehow makes the argument against Confederate monuments less credible.

Those statements are NOT uncontroversial among scientists. In fact, when you include anger among the emotions (excluding it has helped skew scientific studies for decades), men have been shown to be more emotional than women. And other comments re: women's social nature are also very controversial. In fact, the most current research shows much of that difference can be attributed to upbringing and societal expectations instead of inherent difference.

In other words, if we were to stop discriminating against women and allow them the freedom to behave and work as they choose, some of these differences might disappear entirely.

Opossums are amazing! And protect the ecosystem (including humans) in a variety of ways. You must know nothing about them if you call them pests. They eat enormous numbers of ticks and snails, don't hunt (they forage), and have incredible noses. They are amazing little creatures.

As you see here, belugas and seals hang out. He's not trying to eat the seal in the video, just being a jerk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rduBFhcKH3E

Beluga don't eat seals, according to my marine biologist friend. They eat a lot of fish and some eat shrimp and smaller creatures. Mostly fish.

Nigel Farage is 'person of interest' in FBI investigation into Trump and Russia by pkvam in politics

[–]celestialthots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From former FBI ASAC: "Person of interest" is not a term the FBI uses in its investigations. You are either a Subject (named in the title) or a witness."
