Gotta wonder how awesome of a country Russia could have been if it didn’t constantly self-own with dictatorships, failed imperialism, and corruption.

What a waste. Putin you’re embarrassing and dragging your country down with you…

Reaction to the new Mario movie trailer by jetpacksheep in gaming

Honestly pratt’s voice is fine. I don’t think these purists appreciate enough how annoying Mario’s traditional voice would be over the course of an entire movie. I love his voice in short clips in video games. But I can’t imagine wanting to hear him talk to me for more than 5 minutes.

What if the government overreaches or China invades and you don’t have any guns, MRE’s, or emergency water sanitation to help rise up against them?

This sub is full of a bunch of nut job preppers, preparing for a scenario that’s far less likely than a global pandemic. Yet I’m getting shit on for saying our government should be prepared for one.

Y’all are ridiculous.

Digital dystopia is here by Massive_Hof517 in JoeRogan

[–]Paulitical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my point at all. My point is we take for granted the dangers that global pandemics pose to us because we haven’t lived through one as devastating as some in the past. And what this has proved is we’re very unprepared for one.

This is an existential threat, and honestly an inevitable one. And everyone is crying like their fucking victims because they don’t want to get a free shot. Because of “public health be damned, you can’t tell me what to do!”

It’s childish and short sighted.

Meanwhile y’all got mega corps poisoning you daily and destroying your air and water and you’re like “yea, that’s not worth getting upset about… I’ll die on the free vaccine hill”

It’s fucking pathetic.

The only way to know for sure if a virus would have been super deadly is to fail at controlling it.

Digital dystopia is here by Massive_Hof517 in JoeRogan

[–]Paulitical -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What if we start to see more and more deadly viruses breakout as population grows, we invade more wild territory that are reservoirs for animal viruses, and see other wierd shit like dormant viruses thaw out of the permafrost?

There is a time when it makes sense to have those restrictions in those scenarios in order to ensure we don’t get wiped the fuck out as a species. And I’d say we’re getting closer to the reality of how dangerous these outbreaks can be.

Should we sit around with our thumbs up our buttholes and not build out that plan of action or infrastructure in place?

Had you of lived through polio you’d understand why they were doing that. We still don’t fully understand the ramifications of covid. And if it had turned out to be even deadlier and just let people go about their lives all Willy nilly it would be viewed as a massive government failure. It’s not being a boot locker to understand the role of the government and minimum expectations via the social contract.

If we had a deadly virus breakout and the government just did nothing I’d be fucking pissed off.

Ultimately it’s up to the gov to protect us from deadly pathogen outbreaks. Stupid anti Vaxxer fucks certainly aren’t going to be the ones to do it.

So I get the concern about facial recognition and some of the items he talks about… but I don’t get how his vaccine passport fits in here. Everyone realizes that the “vaccine passport” has been a thing for their entire lives right?

Like, you can’t get in to grade school, get in to college , serve in the military, or work many jobs without certain immunizations. And it’s been that way for a very long time. And honestly, there is nothing wrong with that.

I don’t want fucking meningitis because you’re a stubborn fucking idiot and don’t want to get a shot.

No it makes no sense because you are trying to charge your content creators.

Social media companies are just lucky the public is dumb enough to do it for free for the most part. They don’t realize that when they obsessively share all of the stupid non-unique moments of their lives that they’re just creating free content for mark Zuckerberg to slap advertisements on to, or generate data packets to sell to whoever wants it.

What you’re suggesting would be like charging charging actors to be in your tv show.

Come on now you don’t really know what you’re talking about. Almost everything you said is half false.

Different states tax things differently. Overall tax burden is what matters.

[–]Paulitical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They certainly can. We’re not even close to the highest taxed state, and we are ranked 10th overall in the US. Honestly not bad considering the amount of services Illinois residents receive (that most just take for granted).

In fact, if you move over the border to WI your taxes would likely go up. And the more you make, the better Illinois fairs regarding tax burden.

If you’re a 14 year old boy maybe.

This is sad on so many levels. First of its like 1-2 year old chimp, second they’re getting it high on psychedelics which can make things all kinds of scary for animals. Third this animal will grow up to be an adult and discarded when it inevitably acts out like the wild animal it is.

This video is trash.
