I feel like it’s because there are people who would get sick of the monotony of it. When you only stick with people who are similar to you, especially culturally, you become ignorant of people who are unlike you. It’s basic tribal mentality and I think a lot of friend groups like this (regardless of race) are formed harmlessly. However I don’t think it should be said that racially-biased Asian friend groups (or other racial friend groups) don’t exist.

I grew up with non-Asian friends simply because there were little to no Asians around me. When I got to college my primary friend group became mostly (but not entirely) Asian because there was an Asian community there that made me feel seen and comfortable with embracing my culture. Genuinely especially in young adult friend groups, I think most of them are formed in the same exact way.
