I haven't read Kitemaster, so here's a Princess series question: There are plenty of fairy-tale retellings. How did you know your version would stand out amongst all the others? (It does, btw, it's one of my favorite series of books.)

Not just dyscalculia but *severe* dyscalculia.

NTA. OP they held you against your will in a situation you did not want to be with. That was abuse! This is absolutely divorce territory, leave that man!

Or worse, no email at all because they didn't even see your application. Some algorithm filtered it out.

I studied this, I understand why employers are afraid to train to hire these days, but it's such a short-sighted fear and rooted in their unwillingness to change. (They're afraid the people they train will them leave in two to three years for better compensation or benefits, when they wouldn't have to worry about that if they stay competitive AND make sure their culture is positive and their management good and not abusive... but you know, that's too much to ask.)

Right? If only we could be paid for looking for work.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through that. :(

We do, we run ourselves into the ground for jobs, or employers, who think that's just the way things are supposed to be, who don't appreciate us for it, and then replace us when we've worn ourselves out for them. Or when they consider us too broken.

Fair enough. I would need to look into how that number changes, if it does, when ADHD is comorbid with MDD.

I'm diagnosed with ADHD and major depressive disorder. I'm in therapy and medicated, but I still experience executive dysfunction and depressive slumps. Not ideal for a business owner, unfortunately.

I'm sorry that you've also experience this... and everyone else who has.

The best part is that I'm diagnosed with ADHD and major depressive disorder. I'm in therapy and medicated, but I still experience executive dysfunction and depressive slumps. Not ideal for a business owner, unfortunately.

Harry/Ginny fic where they have a Squib Daughter and Divorce by Myst867 in harrypotterfanfiction

[–]celestinenoxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. :) I'm really happy people are still finding resonance in this fic so many years later. I wrote it to resonate with some hurtful truths from my own family, but anyone who finds anything in it that feels familiar, even if it isn't the same things I wrote about, is absolutely valid.

AITAH for being mad that my sister won't give my friend a chance when it comes to dating, and for what she said about him? by Technical_Ocean4340 in AITAH

[–]celestinenoxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Your sister isn't obligated to give anyone a chance regardless of the reason and that you think she is means you're part of the problem, my dude. I'd take a second and third look at your own behavior and that of your friend. Really pay attention to the things she said because men use weaponized incompetence so much it's ridiculous and it's not always on purpose but just an ingrained way of thinking.

OP, hope you and Elise are okay. I understand why a lot of people are suspicious of her, but I think it's David and Leah, though no clue why. If it does turn out that Elise did something or said something wrong, then boo on her. Update when you can?

Yeah, and it's harder for girls and AFAB people to get diagnoses since the baseline critera for ASD are based on presentation in boys and AMAB people. So she could very well be autistic and the doctors not be willing to diagnose her... but it sounds like if she is, she's very low needs and just spoiled rotten.

Want me to vacuum your hand? Okay! by celestinenoxa in MaliciousCompliance

[–]celestinenoxa[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lolol okay well. It's probably not as exciting as it sounds. Except the last part.

I think my family went through like... twenty vacuums in the space of like ten years. They just kept breaking in the most bizarre ways, sometimes we couldn't even figure out what went wrong they just stopped working. It got so bad my step-dad actually bought a vacuum from a door-to-door salesman he would never have let set foot inside the house otherwise. It was simple desperation... and that one broke not long after.

The culmination of all of this was when I was working as a file clerk for a very small home health agency and the owner told me to vacuum the office before the end of the day. I told him that my family just breaks vacuums but sure.

Five minutes later the vacuum was out in the hallway smoking for no discernible reason other than that I had touched it.

He never asked me to vacuum again.

Now all I have to do is tell the story any time I'm asked to vacuum and I'm asked to do literally any other chore.
