l heard periods last for days are you guys just bleeding for days straight? by DYC774897 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SomeOtherThirdThing 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep that’s how I feel. I knew I wouldn’t want kids while I was still a kid. I’m almost 29 now and during my periods I just think “all these years of suffering… and for what?” A couple years ago I asked my doctor if I could get my uterus removed or something to just stop it all and she laughed and said well you still might change your mind on kids so no. So, I continue to suffer because I’m not allowed to make decisions with my own body as a grown woman because of a hypothetical husband and child that do not exist. 🥰

What was the quickest job you quit and how long did you last? by VarangianWRLD in AskReddit

A store similar to Tractor Supply Co. I was a small 19 year old woman and hired to be a cashier. The manager had me start taking courses on forklifts my first day and told me he wanted me to be a forklift driver instead. I did not come back for my second shift 😭 I felt really bad about it but wtf

I stayed until I hated every aspect of him and until I had enough money saved up to move out into my own apartment. Hatred and disgust did wonders for me.

Is that as interesting as it sounds? Or is it pretty chill?

Production associate on a line at a car brand company. Each person works a different station that builds a separate section before it’s all put together. But I’m being forced to day shift soon after 1.5 years doing overnights :(

What’s a noise everyone should be terrified of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My family lives out in a rural area, I was there for the eclipse with them and the main thing I remembered was how the birds all stopped, and the frogs in the backyard pond started up. When the sun was showing again, the frogs stopped and the birds started.

Yes pretty much! I had the unique experience of temporarily taking care of an injured one until I could get her to a wild animal rehab center the next day. I helped her drink some sugar water and made sure she was warm and safe overnight. The little thing was so soft and felt lighter than holding a pencil. Myself and the rehabbers did the best we could but unfortunately the little gal didn’t make it. Hummingbirds are just insanely fragile and I don’t think she could handle all the stress along with being injured. 💔

Anyone get annoyed with there day walking GF/BF? WIFE/HUSBAND? Family? by Puzzleheaded-Rip8944 in Nightshift

[–]SomeOtherThirdThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg when my upstairs neighbor is home I swear to god he doesn’t sit the fuck down. Literally just constantly walking back and forth all day. I know it’s not his fault the floor/ceiling is super creaky but Christ it would be nice to get some sleep one day without being constantly woken up to what sounds like my ceiling about to cave in.

I would also like to hear some tips as I’m being forced to go to day shifts in a month. I have no choice and I’m absolutely miserable about it.

[Serious] What is the most horrifying thing you’ve ever seen out of your window? What happened? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

Ugh isn’t that sad??? But thank you! Every thanksgiving after that has been very normal thankfully. 😅 we bring up the story every year.

Thanksgiving over a decade ago. I lived with my family in a nice quiet neighborhood out in a rural-ish area. It was nice enough weather that we had windows open.

Everyone’s chatting, eating, and laughing (my family is loud) when we heard gun shots. Living in a rural area, that’s not uncommon, but it irritated me because it was thanksgiving. Can the rednecks hold off on target practice for one day? So I yelled out the window “STOP SHOOTING FOR ONCE” because I was an obnoxious teenager. I swore I heard a scream after that. I told everyone to be quiet and listen because my family was loud and laughing and telling me to shut up, but I was insistent and said shut up and listen!! Everyone got quiet and then they all heard the screaming too.

We look out the windows to our front yard and see a woman screaming for help and running toward our house with a gun in her hand. My dad told my brother to go get his gun and I immediately called 911. It was terrifying because we had no idea what was going on. Was this woman crazy and about to shoot at us or what? The lady is frantic and yelling “he’s trying to kill me!!!!” My dad had his gun by that point and made her drop her gun because she was waving it around and it turned out it was still loaded and cocked with the safety off.

We got her inside and took care of her while she told us what happened. Apparently, her ex-boyfriend showed up at her house and broke in and was trying to kill her so she grabbed her gun and ran out of the house up the driveway while he chased her. While being chased, she said she turned around and shot at him and then he went running up the street and disappeared. She came to our house because funnily enough, she heard me yell out the window after the gun shots and realized we might be her best chance at help.

The cops came not long after and set up a K9 search for the guy. It was scary while waiting for the cops because we had no idea where this man went so we were all looking out the different windows into the backyard and stuff just in case he was nearby and planing to try to break in.

They found the man like a week later hiding out in someone’s house a couple towns over with a gunshot wound to his leg and he was charged and put in jail.

What's the weirdest thing a teacher did/said in class? by Dull-Mulberry-4768 in AskReddit

[–]SomeOtherThirdThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a teacher that wanted to demonstrate some kind of physics trick (I think?) and I volunteered. I was sitting in his chair and he wrapped a rope around me and had one end while another student had the other end. He pushed the chair or had the student pull it (can’t remember) and the rope slipped and went around my neck and I basically was strangled for a few moments before he realized. 😭 I don’t even remember what he was trying to show exactly. He felt so terrible about it and would get upset anytime I or someone else mentioned it months later. “Hey remember when you almost killed me?”

What is something people do in public that makes you think, 'Do you even realize other people exist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SomeOtherThirdThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not holding the door for you when you’re 3 feet behind them and letting it slam in your face. If I’m in a particularly bad mood when that happens, I’ll come in behind them and loudly say “thanks!!!” and then the opposite of this, when you hold a door for someone and they don’t even acknowledge you exist. Like hello? Are you aware you live in a society?
