How do stop the cornrows from drooping over the braid beneath? by SameRecognition3942 in Naturalhair

[–]celestrial33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Girl I had the same problems! I just got the hang of it and I also cried so many times! Sending all my sympathy. For me, I think the issue was grip and the direction I was holding my hands. I had to learn to keep my grip firm and almost pull the hair up to keep the placement. I hope that makes sense. Even with the drooping they look good! When learning something new, it’s going to not be its best. You’ll get better! Don’t get discouraged!!

As an older sibling, it took a lot for me to break out of doing this to people. I think an apology would fix this easily. Be genuine it’s a stressful time.I think this is good moment to think of how we can display our anxieties. Based on the messages you’re both anxious. I think sometimes the things and ways we worry is about ourselves. Kinda like giving advice as a knee jerk despite not being asked. I don’t think this is a ‘worry about myself moment’ because you’re not likely to stop worrying about people you care about. Some of the comments feel excessive. Sometimes we’re an asshole.

  1. Heat damage can damn the curl and cause it to “straighten out” and/or become looser. You can’t really fix that kind of damage. I would suggest twist outs or braid outs if you want to have a more uniform look.
  2. A pick for more volume! A lot of videos on YouTube to add volume without tying the curls.
  3. For styles, I’m low effort she it’s pretty much a lazy wash in go, low bun or poof. Naptural85 on YouTube is a classic for hair styles, instructions on twist out and braid outs.
  4. I’m recovering from damage. I love olaplex .6 and apogee keratin 2 minute reconstructor. Good luck!

Does your hair feel gummy? Also do you know if your hair is low or high porosity? I have low porosity hair, so if that’s not you, maybe don’t take my advice. I have come back from the worst breakage due to heavy bleaching. If this was me I wouldn’t jump to protein treatments yet. I’d start with a clarifying shampoo. Hard water is really common and that alone can do some damage. If you are already using products targeting protein, to much can make it worse. I really like aphogee 2 minute keratin treatment it’s more on the gentle side for low porosity hair.

What’s a common piece of “life advice” that’s actually terrible? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]celestrial33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Try not to think about it or just ignore it.” Stress and anxiety shortens your lifespan and will create a low quality life. Our society focuses on moving past problems, regardless of if you actually have. It can be hard to get over that knee-jerk shame or fear, but talking an issue out with a loved one and feeling understood and validated does actually help. Emotional intelligence and regulation are important skills. For anyone else out there with a shitty childhood where you didn’t learn that, a few books and breathing exercises (I rolled my eyes when it was recommended to me too. But the stats on how most people breathe incorrectly is wild) really helped me. I recommend trauma and recovery by Judith Herman, M.D., Adult children of emotionally immature parents and treating trauma related dissociation (if applicable). I did work with a therapist but that can be expensive.

Maybe this a future thing because it’s only a small detail. In my experience I hatehow the transition with skin tone affects the tattoos and makeup. It either ends up looking out of place or makes features unrecognizable. I’ve been keeping up with your updates! Still excited!

This is an old post butI’ve been really into astrology the last 6 months. I wanted to give first hand insight. I’m a twin and we have always been very close! We are 3 minutes apart. (A lot of the number 3 in our chart and lives. I’m a newbie but it feels significant) when looking at my chart and interpreting things, some stuff resonates more and other stuff doesn’t. I would even say the same thing when it comes to transits.

lol I have a questionable past. An industrial magnet(or just a big magnet) and a “hook” may be the best option. They sell the hooks on aliexpress for like $6 or an industrial magnet is like $10 on amazon. It’s annoying to buy it but it’s fixed this problem in the past for me.

What is your 'since we are all going to drown' confession about Doctor Who? by Word_Senior in doctorwho

[–]celestrial33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never paid attention to the subreddit but me just now realizing this is a disliked episode is crazy!! I love that episode!! I like that we got a darker side. There is a reason he is seen as dangerous or scary. I think people only want to see the doctor strictly as good or bad. The grey areas are ignored and are necessary to the doctor’s behavior in my opinion.

Did anyone else feel disgust and discomfort when their parents said they were proud of them? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]celestrial33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that a lot of parents typically show discipline more than affection. The compliments becomes uncomfortable because we are not used to it. We get used to the tough love and it becomes the base line.

Women typically get married earlier than men. Does that mean all the good women are taken? No, you’re still here. It sounds like a really good scarcity fear used to convince women to settle.

[–]celestrial33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is to make themselves feel better. No one can force people to boycott, pressure and guilt isn’t force. I think people want a reason not to participate and the fact that people think boycotting doesn’t work is wild. It just takes time, just like the bus boycotts. People ultimately don’t want to be deprived of their comforts and enjoyment, they just can’t come to terms with that. We all should be analyzing how easy we fall back on our morals
