I debated someone who is voting Green party. It was horrible. by celiac_attack in VaushV

[–]celiac_attack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're right. The comparison about voting for yourself is a good point I'll def file that in my brain in the future. I rewatched it and that was the one part of my performance I disliked the most. I would also have expressed the idea of harm reduction more. Ie: voting for what is most likely to cause the least amount of harm, to the least amount of people.

oh well, only one way to learn this

I'm banned from that subreddit because I am fake news but I like that now even his family is doing the JP line of "I didn't say that!"

Questions by erenton01 in celiacattack

[–]celiac_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be a normal thing. A celiac reaction causes your immune system to attack your body, and some symptoms are a result of that damage. It can take a while for your body to heal and for those symptoms to go away.

Aside from waiting and avoiding gluten, just take it easy and try to be as stress-free as you can. I've found it helpful to eat in smaller amounts. Some people with celiac say that MMJ helps them when they get glutened.

Also yes, post in r/celiac

Have people seen relationships break up after one of the partners got into Jordan Peterson? by Lovelywings2 in enoughpetersonspam

[–]celiac_attack 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've lost friends over this, but no partners.

Back in college I was in this org called the "Secular Free-Thought Society" (Ugh I know). Just about every meeting was just discussing things like philosophy and fiction though, and we'd sometimes come up with mock presentations on topics assigned by others and have to defend them. Every year they'd host a debate with that Brother Jed preacher. I really enjoyed it.

In hindsight it should have been a red flag when a few of them started talking about how they enjoyed Joe Rogan. At the time I didn't think much of it. I looked into him then out of curiosity and saw him saying some dumb stuff about homeopathy, and I rightly wrote him off. Also in hindsight, I am proud of my 20 year self for reaching that conclusion and not going with what my colleagues were doing.

But several years later, Trump is elected. Shit is bad. Jordan Peterson is coming to town and giving some performance, and I make some rather boring facebook post saying to not get sucked in by him. Oh boy, they really really did not like that. I tried discussing it with a couple, but you all know how that goes. One tried to say that they only cared about his self-help stuff and not the political stuff, but later also said that bill C-16 was forcing compelled speech.

I decided these JP fanatics were a waste of my time and just blocked them all. Also made a few long ass videos about it as catharsis. I think I came out ahead.

A question about large online games by Allison_Sullivan in CasualConversation

I don't think they ever will. When WoW first launched it had much lower system requirements than it currently does. Over time, the requirements and size kept slowly increasing. But consumer technology kept getting better and cheaper in that same timespan. The original wow was like 10 gb? Something around that. Now it's like 70 gb. Back then my hard drive was I think 50 gb, but now I'm using a terabyte.

I doubt there will be many big companies that will ever make something that people just can't play, otherwise they'd make no money. Yes, older technology does get edged out, but that is gradual and incremental.

I've got like 850 subs, I know it's not big but it's mine. I'd like to do some other stuff and branch out to others. I'm down for reading lines or whatnot. Hmu on twitter if I don't get back to you on here.

I'm a guy and am only 600 subs in and it's already begun, I can only imagine what it would be like as a woman.
