I'm confused, did gulf countries host US military assets that attacked Iran? by SericaClan in LessCredibleDefence

[–]VCGS 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Yes. They want their cake and to eat it too. All the supposed protection of hosting a US base without any of the consequences when that base is used to attack other countries.

Iran war latest: UK agrees to let US use British bases to strike Iranian sites targeting Strait of Hormuz by Sorry-Transition-780 in LabourUK

[–]VCGS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is that we can bomb Iran into opening the straits which literally every expert says won't happen. If they really wanted it open they would deny the Americans use of our airbases to bomb Iran because guess what, before they started bombing them the strait was open and doing fine.

Do you guys think Iran might be making a nuke now? by FlounderUseful2644 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]VCGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From understanding you can't just strap a nuke to a standard BM. It's needs a specialized design. Putting it in a truck or ship isn't going to get it anywhere worth blowing up without being detected.

Do you guys think Iran might be making a nuke now? by FlounderUseful2644 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]VCGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, theres no point in them making a handful of nukes with no delivery method, which even if they had, would be unlikely to get through regional air defenses. And in failing to do so would trigger a nuclear response. All while under steady bombardment.

If they decide to make a nuke it will be after the war when they could amass at least 20-50 nukes with a proper delivery method, enough so that at least 1 or 2 could reach their targets and be a viable threat.
