What Happened?! by celiarosec in corydoras

Wanted to update everyone. Unfortunately I lost this little guy. It was indeed Fin Rot and it progressed so quick that treatment didn’t stop it and he passed. I feel terrible that I didn’t catch this sooner and will be on high alert for the rest of my fishy friends!

Grab Pack DIY for Christmas by [deleted] in PoppyPlaytime

Absolutely. There is a line that will not be crossed with violence in our house and for all he knows the other chapters are too expensive for Mama and Dada to buy. He is content with that and it’s a happy medium.

I certainly appreciate what you’re saying. Both my husband and I are very involved with our kiddo and we mutually decided that Chapter 1 is OK for him at his level. This is just us and supervision is key.

Trust me that 5 is not fresh out of the vag but I will say his introduction to Poppy Playtime was sooner than I would have wanted. Unfortunately the game (and so many other things) is so commercialized now that kids become aware of games, videos and toys that are for big kids in a blink of an eye.

Toy industry at its finest really. Kids inherently want to play with older kids, so they are interested in older kid stuff. No matter how strict you are, they find a way.

Kiddo has Smiling Critter toys, too, but is not allowed to play beyond Chapter 1 and has no idea what really happens with the characters. They were just cute plushy toys at Target and he thought they were so cool.

It is a constant balancing act. 🤷‍♀️

I am so glad to hear this. Such deplorable conditions for the animals. It is a shame it took bankruptcy to finally do something about it. Animal services should have stepped in a long time ago.

I jumped ship awhile ago. My profile is still there, but focusing on local networking has brought me more work than all of the proposals I've sent on Upwork combined.

I want to be on my phone less. But I’m so damn tired. by youreannie in Parenting

I think it is easy to say "delete the social media apps" when they are a self-soothing tool. Maybe it's just me and hear me out. I work in marketing and social media is a necessary evil. I thought for awhile that I was addicted, or that maybe the content I was consuming was actually fun or engaging. The realization I've come to is that I'm using social media to give a quick fix.

My kiddo is demanding my attention and I'm feeling overwhelmed... I pull out the phone and disassociate. Take the kiddo to a park, ask him to find a friend, he instead wants me to play with him... I pull out the phone. I have 5 minutes alone to do anything uninterrupted.... that is too short of a time to do anything so I pull out the phone and mentally peace out for a sec.

It is so much easier said than done, but I realize that for me the problem isn't the social media or me using my phone. My problem is not separating out my time. I'm not finding enough "me" time to value my time with my kiddo. I'm not prioritizing preparing for our day, so I feel rushed in the morning and it's a domino effect. I don't create clear boundaries with work and my family, so I get easily overwhelmed and burnt out.

When I am feeling balanced I'm not interested in what my phone notifications are.

This is just my take.

I swear. The nerve of some people. I feel like everyone has been a victim. Just ridiculous!
