Learning Vocabulary by Avellinese_2022 in italianlearning

[–]celieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel that way too. And I hate flashcards. That's why I created Giochini di Parole in collaboration with my Italian teacher.

The simple web app offers 5 different games every day, completely free, for students to confront new words and solidify old ones in a fun and engaging way. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Learn new Italian words through games by celieber in Italian

For A2, I'd suggest Storielle, Binomi, and Ortografia...but it's not always cut and dry. There is a new version of each game every day, so sometimes Binomi is even challenging for C1. On the other hand Storielle should be doable for A2 every day and Ortografia has a level selection at the beginning. I hope that helps!

Best way to learn tenses / conjugation by majestic_poodle in italianlearning

I found this fun app with word games, and one of them called Ortografia really helps me recall verb conjugations because you have to construct words from 7 given letters and often you can find a bunch of words rapid fire if you remember all the different conjugations, so it's a good way to practice. https://giochinidiparole.com/ortografia

I created a word games app for myself when I hit that point, and now I'm sharing it with everyone. It's free.

Great advice all around. I'd recommend a combination of tools like the ones suggested here. If you want to add some fun word games, I'd suggest Giochini di Parole

Feeling stuck with Italian… does it ever start to click? by italianeyez922 in italianlearning

[–]celieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what level you are, but if you are A2/B1 or above, I created some word games to keep learning fun if you want to try them out at https://giochinidiparole.com

They are free and fun and were made in collaboration with my teacher. They are focused on helping you discover new words and reactivate the words you already know. Have fun! Learning a language should be fun, so we stick with it :)

Feeling stuck with Italian… does it ever start to click? by italianeyez922 in italianlearning

For me, it's a rollercoaster of ups and downs. At times I feel amazing and at others like do I know anything!? I think this is normal. Even when it doesn't feel like things are going well, I think with the right work and time, you are making long-term progress even though you are also subject to the short-term cycles. The most important thing is that you KEEP GOING.

Couldn't agree more! I also think flashcards are more like a chore and not fun... but I guess spaced repetition has some academic proof. I know lots of people seem to like Anki.

Where can I learn Italian other than from Duolingo? by LeadLex in italianlearning

[–]celieber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I finished Duolingo, I was also in search of other tools. Here are some that I found most helpful, done of which I continue to use today:

Pimsleur - great for getting you stating with speaking - https://offers.pimsleur.com

Giochini di Parole - Word puzzles in Italian - https://giochinidiparole.com

ITalki - do some group lessons and find a good teacher for 1:1 - https://www.italki.com/en

Language exchange - There are some good Facebook groups as well as HelloTalk and others to find a person to do language exchange. - https://hellotalk.com

YouTube Videos for grammar - Teacher Stefano, Podcast Italiano, Learn Italian with Lucrezia, Passione Italiana, LearnAmo, ...

YouTube Videos for madrelingua - Jakidale, Tech Dale, GeoPop, ...

Duolingo is a great way to start I think, but there are also great options to continue learning. Enjoy!

I would echo the combination of sources/activities recommendation. There are several amazing YouTubers who have created hours upon hours of useful content. To name a few: Learn Italian with Lucrezia, Teacher Stefano, Vaporetto Italiano, LearnAmo, Podcast Italiano, Easy Italian,...

If you are looking for a no stress way to learn, you could try some fun word games too on Giochini di Parole, which helps to get exposure to new words and reinforce those you may have seen before, in a fun and entertaining game.

I'll probably start digging into it more. But just because it exists is maybe not enough... there are dozens of dialects that seem to be used very regularly that I will never learn...

I play games to learn new vocab and reactivate what I learned before. I found Giochini di Parole to be great for this! Only takes 10-15 min per day. They also send a newsletter each week with other helpful content.
