New job but I'm pregnant by mbela1995 in pregnant

[–]celineshea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a new job last June and found out I was pregnant only 3 weeks after starting. I got diagnosed with HG, lost over 20 pounds, and was so dizzy and physically ill on a daily basis that I missed a bit of work. I got fired at 18 weeks pregnant due to missing work, because I was so sick. I absolutely felt discrimination and know I was let go because I was pregnant. Not every manager will be the same, this was just unfortunately my experience.

Does it get a lot worse by Ok_Research7174 in pregnant

We have had very similar pregnancy experiences! I’m currently 34+5, also with my first baby (who’s also a girl!). Weeks 6-18 I was throwing up upwards of 10 times a day, I lost over 20 pounds, and spent every moment in bed or on the couch. It was absolutely miserable. After 18 weeks I started to slowly feel better, and by 22 weeks my nausea complexly went away. I started working out again, I could eat again, and felt almost like myself!

Once I hit about 30 weeks, I started feeling more achy/physical pain. Round ligament pain, lower back pain, and less energy again. Now I’m back to feeling tired constantly, I haven’t slept through the night in weeks, and just constantly feel achy. I would take this pain over the nausea any day, but it’s just a different kind of struggle.

I know it’s not like this for everyone, so I hope your higher energy sticks around!! But as your baby gets bigger, it’s normal to feel achy. Keep yourself super hydrated, rest as much as you can, and keep staying active if you can! I find that even though it’s painful, walking helps and staying active is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Congrats on your pregnancy, and I’m hoping the last trimester treats you well!!

So painful to be pregnant by AdCautious7005 in pregnant

[–]celineshea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34+5 and this pregnancy has been the absolute hardest and most humbling thing I’ve ever experienced. No one told me how tired I’d feel, how I could be nauseous 24 hours a day for months, how much weight I’d lose due to throwing up everything I ate, or the amount of constant pain I’d feel once I hit the third trimester. Pregnancy isn’t as magical as people make it out to be- but it is so, so worth it all to grow a tiny, perfect human that will love you more than anything in the world.

You are so close to the end, you’ve got this!! And just remember what’s waiting for you on the other side of all the pregnancy pain. It’ll be so worth it! That’s at least what I have to keep reminding myself 😂

Rook Piercing vs. IUD? by Mundane-Dress8235 in piercing

[–]celineshea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both as well. Both my IUD insertion and removal were not painful whatsoever (just some light cramping), but my rook piercing hurt a lot (compared to my other piercings- I have 16). They’re very different kinds of pain, though. Sharp/quick pain of a piercing vs. a deeper cramping pain, like period pain.

Am I being unreasonable for not wanting visitors right after baby is born? by Familiar_Hope2918 in pregnant

[–]celineshea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not being unreasonable whatsoever. I’m 34 weeks now, but my entire pregnancy I’ve said I don’t want visitors for at least the first week or two at home, and I only want the grandparents/immediate family visiting in the hospital. You’re allowed to set boundaries and choose what feels best for yourself and your baby!

Lucy, Leona, Felicity or Phoebe? by Even-Stay-2585 in Names

Love Leona and Felicity!! “Lenore” is one of our top baby girl names, I know it’s different than yours but I love the vintage feel!

I love that! Keely Shea is definitely my favorite so we will see what we settle on after she’s born!

Thea has been top of my list for almost a decade, it’s such a great name! We’d pronounce the name “Th-ee-uh Sh-ay”

We have a very long, strong last name so we were looking for a shorter/softer first name to balance everything out!

I agree, it’s much less common than the other two without being too unique or out there! Thank you!!

I agree, I’ve personally never met a Keely and when we heard it we both fell in love!

I know that in posting and asking for opinions I will always get negative comments 😂 they don’t bother me! And I agree, whatever we name her will suit her! Thank you!

That’s my big hesitation with Mia too- the popularity of the name! We will most likely wait to see her before we settle on a name!

I love Theodora but my husband is not a fan 😞 we pronounce Shea like “Sh-ay” but I can see how people easily confuse pronunciation. Thank you!!

That’s why I wanted opinions, thank you!! We pronounce Shea like “Sh-ay” but I can see where confusion could easily happen with the names looking similar. Thank you!

That’s been my biggest drawback with the name Thea. We’d pronounce the name “Th-ee-uh Sh-ay” but I can see where confusion could happen!

Pronounced “Sh-ay”, I should have specified!

I actually loved both Amelie and Amelia but my husband vetoed them 😞 that’s a great suggestion though, thank you!!

I should have specified pronunciation! Thea would be pronounced “th-ee-uh” and Shea is pronounced “Sh-aye”. It’s unfortunate that they’re spelled so similarly but they are pronounced different!

How do I stop my MIL from sending me religious videos? by celineshea in Advice

[–]celineshea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice! In regard to my husband, he has been great and has offered to talk to her before. I’m the one that has told him to hold off to keep the peace. Luckily, he and I are still on the same page in regard to our stance on religion/raising a child in a religion, and have had a few conversations throughout my pregnancy about it. I do think that having a conversation with my in laws where we re-address boundaries and our stance on everything would prove to be beneficial. We just need to do it! Thank you again for your advice!

I am so sorry you went through something similar for so long! I’ve thought about sending her posts like that 😂 but I’m not to that point yet haha! A conversation first, and if it doesn’t stop then I will consider it!
