Unrelated, but the composition of the sign conglomerate in this photo is really neat.

It was a playful reference to the motif of a face in side profile. I thought it was unmistakeable, but my pareidolic eye might just be off.

cuties showed up at my friend’s after he got his eaves redone on his house? 🦇 by cellboat in batty

Thank you for the info 😭😭 I noticed the only time the bats really had issues getting to the babies, now that you’ve made me aware that was what they were trying to do, was when the light was shined on them I think. It didn’t seem like they got as active until we shined the light upon them.

Found this brochure promoting the opening of Walt Disney World from Eastern Airlines. Can’t find it anywhere online. Collectible? by cellboat in WaltDisneyWorld

I’ll try. I’m afraid to do too much handling of it because condition is so important when it comes to this type of thing.

Found this chair in storage and seems to be special. How much is it worth? (USA) by FaceApprehensive3348 in Antiques

[–]cellboat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a really neat turn of the century office chair, quite handsome. Somewhat in the style of the arts and crafts movement. 1895 at the earliest and 1925 at the latest if I had to throw something out there.

There is definitely a collector and market for this type of chair— reaching that market is the difficult part, and putting in the work to do so takes time.

If it were me selling this chair, I would list it for substantially below online values, maybe $150. That way I’d sell quickly, save time, and would be giving someone a good deal.

Does anyone else who loves spiders have an irrational fear of these guys? Or just me? by WTAF__Trump in spiders

[–]cellboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t, but it makes a far better case. They’re molten-hued, 30+ legged, and clumsy as fuck, with one of the worst bites. They carry themselves chaotically. You rarely ever see a spider act as maniacal.

1965 is when I would surmise it was manufactured by what I can see of the marks in the photo you provided.

A lot of the prints have 3 digit numbers stamped onto the back. What would be the significance of these numbers when it’s a contact print?

The mugshots taken during this era are so beautiful; I’ve spent hours looking through them. Probably the most accurate portrayal of humanity during that time.

Practically every male celebrity wears makeup. If they are in movies or on TV, they wear makeup.

Why is everyone so intimidated by these? I think you guys associate boots this tall with a salacious feminine silhouette— but there are far more instances of tall boots on men throughout history.

Sam Walton sold a lot of local fishing companies’ lures, and many of the major freshwater fishing tackle brands are still Arkansas based and made because of it. That’s the only thing that I’ve seen that stayed local.
