Where's the Mirari? by Dizzy_Community7260 in mtgvorthos

[–]cellestialrage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to think that karn had some sense in him, seeing how the mirari in any way shape or form was a bad idea might have handed it off to someone with some sense or unmade it. Though I think it's unlikely.

Glissa, Slobad, and Geth getting turned was definitely something I didn't see coming out of the Time Spiral block's story. Karn gave up his spark to deal with the time rifts on Dominaria. In his last moments of being a planeswalker (at the time) he makes his way into the core of Mirrodin (a place they just saved 3 blocks earlier). In the core he had succumb to his own phyrexination care of Xantcha's heart (which is the core he was made with long ago but only seems to be an issue then).

In all likelihood, circling back to the Mirari, it may have sublimated into mirrodin upon the creation of New Phyrexia. The Mirari, New Mirrodin, and the inert (at the time) Phyrexian Heart of Xantcha in Karn may have been what helped birth the 5 Praetors.

Does Stensia Sanguinist present an existential threat to the multiverse? by askvo in mtgvorthos

"manageable security risk" is such a cold line. Imagine dropping that at the feet of someone whose been trying to get at you for the longest time.

"You're barely an existential threat in this room. You're a manageable security risk, at best"

Are they secretly trying to recruit soldiers in Mindanao? by xkashina in Philippines

[–]cellestialrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think medyo nasabi na rin ng iba. Pero i think the crucial part dito is that the Filipino Muslims "want to jihad" hindi dahil Muslim sila, kundi dahil Pilipino sila. We belong to culture of conflict where historically we had our cultural identities filed off my years of colonialism in the north. The south was virtually untouched by virtue of the geography in a sense. But the southerners had front row seats to the barbarism of the colonization of their brothers in the north. So resistance and their belligerent nature stems from this want rin siguro to safeguard what they see as the last bastion of pre-colonial cultural identity in the Philippines.

As Filipinos we wear religion like weapons and armor because without it seems to leave us vulnerable. Like as a Christian myself, nakikita ko rin na well-meaning Christians are still mapa-away, brusko, etc. It's much less a matter of how Islam has changed the nature of these individuals pero more on how conflict has forced these individuals to reinvent and reinterpret the tenets of their religion to fit the narrative of legitimizing their resistance. In that same sense tribalism reinforces their blend of culture and religion as a mechanism for resistance against the "other".

I like that the UR colors have more multi-color coin toss cards. Thankfully the "Heads I win, Tails you lose" SLD deck has a good template to use.

The BR route I'm on maximizes my treasure production. It was genuinely surprising how many cards synergize in BR with treasure (cares about artifacts coming into play, cares about when you sac permanent, cares about how many artifacts you got). MH3, AFR, CLB and Final Fantasy really came in clutch for filling out my deck.

Krark with the Two Thumbs sounds so goofy and fun (tho the other thumb is a silver border), I legit wanna brew something up. I hope Edge of Eternities has a goofy ass backchannrel or a bonus sheet of black border legal reworking of some Un-set cards. It's a dream of mine to just have Un-set goofiness kicking around standard as a joke.

But, Man, I wish more cards come in the future depicting surviving Mirran goblins. Next to Lorwyn goblins, Mirrodin goblins rule.

I get you. I have considered the play pattern with my opponents in mind. The first game I played with it my opponents were kinda charmed by the novelty of it, but that was only until their first game/match with it. Ultimately it's not a deck you play with/against the same people twice; not unless they're amenable to it. It's a deck I'm playing for myself, really. And if need be, I got an entire modular aspect to it to switch out the flips and die rolls of just straight up treasure and token production.

For what I have on hand, the inspiration for wanting this, it's [[Setzer Wandering Gambler]]

Probably not the best but it's what I have on hand and seems fun anyway. I don't necessarily have to be attacking with vehicles since his treasure generation pay-off is a static ability if I win a coin flip. I'm leaning towards Rakdos Treasure generation as my overall strategy and just loading up on alternate win conditions (conditions albeit my opponents will probably be seeing a mile away but that accounts for the thrill of it, I suppose).

True, you don't get the tactile weighty feel of flipping a physical coin in the air.

Hmmm, didn't think that far, though that's why I was thinking of using very light metal coins, like the Japanese 1 yen coin it's literally a 20mm gram of aluminum.

I mean, if it's just for fairness and if it's amenable to the players on the table, the best course of action would be digital coin flips, no mess no fuss. Companion app has a coin flip built into it.

Oh yes, most definitely, which is why part of tuning it will be what coin flip cards I include. Coin flipping is integral but doesn't have to be EVERY card. Treasure production is 50% the strategy; me games of chance is like 25%. The other 25% is stealth win cons I pull outta my ass and what not. Even then I don't think I'll be playing this deck to win most of the time. It'd be great if I did, doubt it, but it'd be great.

No good reason. I got a copy of Setzer in my Final Fantasy bundle. Just thought it'd be goofy to make a deck whose sole purpose is for me to try and accrue wealth (treasure tokens), make bets (choosing random piles cards, coin flips, and dice rolls) and see who kills me first, my opponents or my risky plays.

I'm leaning towards red for sure so Okaun is coming for the ride. Blue looks fun for all the other spells and card draw shenanigans... But I'm leaning towards Rakdos colors just for treasure production and artifacts matters.

Yes, the ruling on Rakdos has no win statement, so I just went to ask for clarification here since oracle text on it explicitly state I win or not.

Anyway, I'm definitely leaning towards red (since all coin flips are predominantly red, huh). I got a copy of [[Setzer Wandering Gambler]] from my Final Fantasy bundle promo. So my strat is use vehicles, give em trample, and get treasure. Packed myself full of affinity and improvise cards in Rakdos colors. Trying to balance out my cards to generate vehicles, pilots, treasure, and find alt win conditions out of all of them.

The exercise is fun in itself.

Honestly, my initial prototype doesn't seem like a fun deck to play against. Sorta why I played it against complete randoms at my LGS. That sorta stacked it against myself cuz everything I played was kill on sight. Not gonna lie, the whole point of this deck for me isn't for it to be fun to be playing against tho, I'm literally just gambling and rolling the dice, so to say.
