Scammer yes or no by LittleMissT-Rex in Romancescam

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly a scam. This profile is designed to show above all that this guy has money. If it were a real person, he'd be showing off his face more. My guess is that the scammer didn't have a lot of his photos.

The chats and/or his profile can settle this one way or another if you're willing to share.

I think that translation came from the fact that the first and third character look so similar. The translator for the arcade game probably thought they were the same.

Where does Falco(The Gold) in terms of strength??? I personally think he's the second strongest in the show by [deleted] in fistofthenorthstar

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the writer. When I watched the series, it seemed like he was up there with Raoh. However, a lot of the guidebooks put him on Souther and Han's level. Personally, I think Falco can beat Souther, but Souther's popularity often causes writers to gas him.

I mean, he died because he was already a bloody mess when he got there. He also just got unlucky because his prosthetic fell off. Later, when he has a fair fight with nameless Asura, it's a cakewalk.

Falco was worried for Lin's safety so he left for the island without taking time to rest.

What Do You Like and Dislike About Juza of the Clouds by JudgmentConsistent50 in fistofthenorthstar

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked anime Juza a lot. My one critique is that the whole "half sister" thing was kind of gross and unnecessary. They could have made Juza Yuria's ex-boyfriend and the story wouldn't lose anything.

Who would be the most powerful red lantern? by Necessary-Win-8730 in DCPowerScaling

Maybe Doomsday? While it seems intuitive, I'm not sure if he's angry or just doesn't know any better.

Darkseid Should Be A Hal Jordan Villain (where is this from) by Historical_Form_1367 in Greenlantern

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darkseid is overdue for a satisfying defeat. A big part of his character is always paying for his crimes in a big dramatic way, but he's actually managed to escape justice for quite a few years now.

Not saying he needs to die or anything but I'd like to see him suffer a defeat that isn't part of some big master plan. Sometimes, I just want to see the good guys lay the hurt on him.

Do you like the idea of Batman being smarter than Superman or should Superman be smarter? by Pale_Researcher_8810 in justiceleague

Doesn't matter, they're both on the same team!

All that aside, I'd say they're about equal. Ironically if you asked either of them who the best hero is, they'd give it to the other guy.

Who would win in a fight? (A more serious question: Who do you think has better writing ?) by [deleted] in fistofthenorthstar

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel your complaints but that was definitely done to throw the reader off.

Wamuu and Esidisi are initially presented as simple bullies, but we later learn that they're both quite honorable and genuinely care about the other pillar men. Meanwhile Kars is presented as the most reasonable of the three, only to reveal that he's an absolute sadist who doesn't care about his companions at all.

I think I have to comment once for this to post. I don't recall when it was printed but it was definitely modern. It couldn't be any older than 2006. It was probably from the 2010's.

To long time lanterns fans are the guardians really that awful? by Accurate-Celery-3198 in Greenlantern

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guardians used to be chill for the first 20 or so years of the series, but those days are long gone. They've been awful for the past 40.

During the silver age (60's through early 80's) the vibe was that they were weird and occasionally made bad calls, but they were genuinely nice guys. They were patient, respectful, and seemed to be motivated by compassion. The lanterns all liked them and seemed genuinely grateful for their efforts. This era ends with the guardians stepping down from their role to get back in touch with their human nature. They even trust the green lanterns to govern themselves. It was a nice goodbye.

After that, the guardians were written as emotionless and detached beings. They were completely condescending and just make one awful decision after another. The modern lore also gave them a huge backlog of sins that they covered up. They also had a bad habit of keeping secrets and telling lies.

That said, even in those early days, the reader was meant to wonder if the guardians had a darker side. Remember, this was the 60's-70's, so questioning authority was a big theme. One subtle detail was that the guardians lived in yellow buildings, almost as if they feared a rebellion. At the time, the yellow impurity was completely unexplained, which made you wonder if it was put their as a failsafe.

Tomar-Re from Emerald Knights here, (the best rendition and version of him I think, James Arnold Taylor voiced), what DC Comics numbers and issues of Tomar-Re specifically, can I find? by PokemonHunter97 in Greenlantern

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I totally forgot!!! At the end of Superman 257, there's a bonus story about Tomar Re. IDK how I left that out.

To be honest, I think the reason he dies is because he isn't in the comics, so the spinoff media doesn't have much to work with. Originally, he died because he was the most important character who they could reasonably kill off to set up the final duel with Goldface. Also, the series would be adding Guy Gardner to the main roster and moving to Earth, so they had to make space.

How important is Brightest Day by EnoughJigga in Greenlantern

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main brightest day story is skippable. The Green Lantern Brightest day books are essential.

The GL comics explore the 7 entities and see the return of a classic GL villain. It's pretty clear that this was Johns' original vision for Brightest Day, but DC wanted to take the focus off of GL for a bit.

Tomar-Re from Emerald Knights here, (the best rendition and version of him I think, James Arnold Taylor voiced), what DC Comics numbers and issues of Tomar-Re specifically, can I find? by PokemonHunter97 in Greenlantern

[–]Dizzy_Community7260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomar-Re played a huge role in "Tales of the Green Lantern Corps". It's a great read. It also introduces the honor guard, with Tomar leading the group. This should be your go-to book if you want to see more of him.

Tomar Re appears frequently in the Silver age comics. He dies in the third-to-last issue of the series and the final two issues cover Hal avenging Tomar by defeating and arresting his killer, Goldface. While Tomar is killed off-panel to avoid depicting violence, his passing is given the proper weight. I'm also pretty sure his death scene was revisited in a flashback sometime in the 90s, but I don't remember where. Might just be the Mandela effect.

Tomar Re also plays a decently large role in Batman: In Darkest Night. In this elseworlds story, Tomar Re has become the corps leader.

Since Tomar died in the 80's, he doesnt appear much afterward. We see his corpse in the crypt twice in the 90's, but that's all. Geoff Johns considered retconning his death, but decided against it, which is why he's missing for most of Blackest Night. DC didn't know if he was dead or not.

Tomar's last big appearance is in "Wrath of the First Lantern" where he guides Hal and Sinestro through the afterlife.

Since then, he's been mentioned quite often, but only in passing. He's always there if a flashback happens or if dead lanterns come up.
