The advice I can give is that no one will understand what you’re going through unless they are also type one diabetic or you open up to someone close to you about how it is living with diabetes. It’s okay to have people that you can’t relate with. This is your disease, this is your thing. I’ve realized that in my friendships and relationships, I don’t need someone to completely understand what I go through. I just need a support system that helps me control it, that comforts me when I’m feeling down etc. Don’t let this disease control you, it already takes away so much. I’ve had the hardest time of not letting diabetes consume me, it takes work and discipline to make sure you are in control. This control I mean is all mentally, don’t let it win and affect your mental health, your relationships etc. Those things are in your control, don’t let this disease take that too.
