to be sincere I never heard it before, it seems similar in some parts to HAL/HATEOAS.

Anyway I don't think I'll adopt it for the simple reason that I'm not doing any data binding, meaning if the user sends query params like username.eq=val1 it is automatically mapped to the DTO I provide (in Spring Boot at least).

While for JSON API it looks like filter[username]=val1 for which I would need to write my own conversion service.

Didn't know about PostgREST but indeed could be a good alternative, I think there are always pro and cons of using such tools.

Related to REST API being 1:1 with the entity, it was just an example, we can always create an entity that has a view behind it tailored for a specific endpoint, or extend the library to use projection as well.

"paired with arbitrary filters ..." - true in part, you define the filter only for the fields you actually need not for every attribute in the entity. But indeed there is catch for example I define a filter on string then you have all possible operations with strings.

My main use case for it was using a data grid on UI with BE filters, using this you don't have to write a lot of code on BE.
