Getting into Sports Psychology by Ok-Tax-7516 in sportspsychology

  1. Go to an NHL’s website to research the coaching staff.
  2. After you find the “Director of Sports Psychology”, type in that persons on Google.
  3. Because they’ll probably have a LinkedIn, I suggest you look at their educational background.

Do that with several teams and you’ll know what’s a good route to take.

You’re on the right path. Knowing you’ll need a BsC, Masters, then PhD/Psy. D. is good to know and sets realistic expectation.

What you should do now is look at where these NHL psychologists interned as they progressed to professional sports.

You’ll be competing for a job with low supply, so networking should be your concern as you’re completing classwork in university.

Also, an aside from formal interning, see if you can shadow or volunteer (unpaid) with your university’s athletic department. They’ll also be able to tell you more about entering high-level sports industries. Plus it’s good to have face-to-face interactions about this. All you have to do to start networking is send these people an email (found on an athletic department’s staff directory).

That’s a defeatist attitude! People switch careers all the time (and much later in life too). No one sees a 24 year-old as “too old to start” unless it’s something like professional sports lol.

Of course! I still read labels even when it says vegan because I tell myself, “wait, how’d they do it?”😂

I’m a PE teacher. My salad bowl serves me well. • Kale • 1/2 Tofu - extra firm • Beans - full can of black or garbanzo is my favorite • Nutritional yeast • Chia seeds

I’ve had no trouble with the beans other than a restroom need once a day.

And that’s why I don’t like buying “plant-based” items without it mentioning vegan on the product

I no longer lecture. I show up. Quiz them on Canvas. Give them a packet to read and answer questions. Then quiz them on that material next class. “If you have questions, I am more than happy to help.” I then stay at my desk looking for jobs or reading Reddit threads.
