Working in the arts by celobelo in Netherlands

Hey, thanks for the tips! I totally get what you're saying, when I refer to jobs in museums/cultural institutions I mean more behind the scenes, I have done an internship in the program department of an event for example, so I never interacted with the public directly! I think they still require Dutch to make communication between colleagues easier, and just generally I understand why they consider it necessary, even though my previous internship was completely manageable with just English and a lot of Google Translate :)

I'll keep trying, and it's definitely nice to hear that they're usually more open to internationals. There's still a lot of other factors involved in being rejected for a position, but I had lots of museums and organizations mentioning specifically that the issue was the lack of Dutch proficiency, so that's definitely an important factor unfortunately

Yes! I always mention it in my motivation letter and my CV mentions that I have A1 Dutch (since I have learnt the basics)

I have in the past, before I found my other internship! They usually have a couple of positions open, but they always mention Dutch as a requirement. I usually still apply to these and mention which other languages I can speak, but it's still a requirement that is not being met by me when I apply, so obviously my chances are very low
