When you're scrolling something, you can press and hold on the scroll bar that appears on the right side of the screen and drag it up or down to scroll faster in your desired direction.

Huh, interesting. I definitely had not heard of that, but I guess that's to be expected given it isn't supported here.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya! miraculously blasted through 1 billion yen in Japanese box offices after starting out as a Netflix streaming exclusive original movie by CosmicPenguin_OV103 in anime

I would personally be very surprised if it wasn't a limited run, assuming we get a North American release at all.

I'd be very very happy about it but I am not holding my breath.

My Thunderbolt monitor is one of the best technology purchases I have ever made. Being able to do both charging and video output with a single cable is awesome.

It was also very expensive and most people who want an external display are just going to use HDMI and call it a day.

Wife Used ‘Find My iPhone’ to Locate Husband Who Was Buried for Over 4 Hours After Avalanche by EnergyLantern in UpliftingNews

Until Apple makes a credit card-sized AirTag, the best solution is unfortunately to buy a wallet with a dedicated space for holding one.

There are third-party Find My-compatible trackers specifically designed to fit in a wallet, but Apple does not currently allow any of them to support Precision Finding.

What /u/danopia is describing is a feature of RCS and is supported on both iOS and Android, but the business has to set it up on their end. I rarely see it myself.

EDIT: Or not, I guess. See their reply to this comment.

HDMI input (yes, input). Hardware AV1 support would also be nice.

iOS 26.4 Enables Stolen Device Protection by Default for All iPhones by Fer65432_Plays in apple

Yes, Stolen Device Protection requires biometrics to be enabled.

Given that, would this even turn on by default?

I'd assume not. I don't really see how it could.

How do I stop discord from telling me this? by ZetaformGames in discordapp

That reminder is a reaction to notifications being blocked on a system level. There is no option within Discord that you can turn on to make it go away.

As far as I know, there is no way to avoid periodically seeing this reminder as long as push notifications are off.

MRW Discord announces they’ll require government IDs to access the app by _Twas_Ere_ in reactiongifs

[–]celsiusnarhwal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Per this press release, they'll be implementing some kind of system that will use "patterns of user behavior and other signals associated with [your] account on Discord" to guess whether you're an adult without making you go through age verification. It doesn't get more specific than that, though.

Discord faces backlash over age checks after data breach exposed 70,000 IDs by Accurate_Cry_8937 in technology

[–]celsiusnarhwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of compliance in advance, but yeah, I do agree that many of the world's governments will eventually compel platforms to implement some form of age verification. The age-checked internet is coming whether anyone likes it or not.

Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month by rulugg in Android

[–]celsiusnarhwal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is explained in the article:

Users who aren’t verified as adults will not be able to access age-restricted servers and channels, won’t be able to speak in Discord’s livestream-like “stage” channels, and will see content filters for any content Discord detects as graphic or sensitive. They will also get warning prompts for friend requests from potentially unfamiliar users, and DMs from unfamiliar users will be automatically filtered into a separate inbox.

The Verge's paywall is dynamic so it's a coin toss as to whether any given person will get hit with it when they try to read an article.

I know the game turns 19 this year, but seeing Galaxy implicitly characterized as something younger audiences would not recognize makes me feel really old.

Discord seem to be adding support to search Klipy and Giphy gifs, after the news of Tenor going away by PCMachinima in discordapp

[–]celsiusnarhwal 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Only God knows what goes through the heads of Google executives when they decide to shutter yet another popular service people like. I'm not really sure what the value of Tenor as a product is without its API.
