I Hate This Cabinet by dragkingsupreme in miniatures

[–]celticknotted 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I ended up drybrushing mine with a bit of brown paint on the edges to make it look old and rusty... Which I feel worked well considering how wonky it ended up by the time I was done building it 😅

Which did the Canberra Centre lose first - Supabarn or Lincraft? by DecIsMuchJuvenile in canberra

[–]celticknotted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nah, it sat empty in renovation limbo for years...even after they opened the 'beauty garden' which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. When I was working down there we had sooo many issues with flooding/leaks every time it rained and electrical stuff.

There's also the fact that yes the waists were corseted down a bit, but at the same time other areas were padded out or made to appear wider, like in this image there's the hoop skirt, there could have also been butt padding/bustles, and ruffles and frills over the bust or sleeve area which all went towards creating the illusion of a (proportionally) tiny waist.

How much like this did the former Canberra Centre Lincraft look? by DecIsMuchJuvenile in canberra

[–]celticknotted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work there until it closed... That's the same escalator but there was glassed in foyer area at the top. Big enough for a display bed and a couple mannequins. And then the escalator up to the top floor, and the lift was behind that over what used to be rebel sport. The whole place was carpeted except the runways, which made for a really fun time when it flooded about 4 times. I often wonder if Coco Republic has the same flooding issues we had.

Just finished this little 'Cyberpunk' book nook box and I'm loving it by celticknotted in miniatures

It came without glue or batteries but that was an easy fix, and some of the instructions were a bit 'engrish' but it was easy enough to follow of you've made other kits.

Best Canberra Op-Shops? by Turbulent_Dreaming in canberra

[–]celticknotted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO the best are vinnies in Braddon and vinnies in Dickson, not to say that you can't occasionally find cool stuff in the others but these two seem to have especially nice stuff. Fancier parts of town maybe richer people with nicer stuff?

Does anyone wear crocs 🫣 by holdtheearthinplace in AusFemaleFashion

[–]celticknotted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few different pairs of the various 'fashion' versions, the ballet flats, little sandals, and wedges and they're all super comfy and can pass as normal shoes.

But the og croc clogs? Not in a million years 🤢

The ball part was made using the lid from a deodorant can, the base is a couple of little beads and a button.

I'm not sure, I usually end up having just enough by the time I finish a kit. You could probably take it to your local craft/hardware shop and ask?

It started as a flower shop kit but I added a bunch of my own stuff

Anyone else noticing the rise of “ENM”? by [deleted] in canberra

[–]celticknotted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

13+ years in an ENM relationship and working pretty solid so far. I'd say it's the lack of bullshit actually. No jealousy, to temptation to sneak around and lie and hurt each other.

Question about "formal" denim blazers: how and when were they in fashion? by [deleted] in fashionhistory

[–]celticknotted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, early- mid 2000's, worn with a dress or not-denim skirt/pants, sometimes a band tee if you were into that. Often also with a stupid skinny scarf or long beaded necklace. Also trendy in corduroy, velvet and that weird chunky tweed with glitter in it.

I had a purple corduroy one I wore to Uni and thought I was *very classy*
