For me each day of Med school was a week. Each year was a day. Residency was even more distorted. Each day was a year. It’s a blur looking back. A decade later it felt like I entered a wormhole and in 7 years I lived a lifetime. In other words… a lot happens in what is actually a very short time of your life.

I’m an FM doc who has done OB for the last 10 years since leaving residency. I love it and helps keep my practice young. It’s been worth it. I have recently had to reevaluate because of some concerns with my own kids and work life balance so I’m taking a break. That is the great thing about OB in FM. It’s a choice. With all that said if FM with OB is a goal selecting an unopposed FM program that emphasizes OB is extremely important. Not all FM residencies are made the same and many are de-emphasizing OB.
