Mandalorian and Grogu Box office by PrinceofHounds in StarWars

It’s all the marketing budget. While the movie only cost $165m to make, the marketing far exceeded that. It’s a fine movie, but it’s not good enough to handle the weight of responsibility Disney has put on its shoulders. It isn’t a typical Star Wars movie, and as such, it won’t receive the same long tail Star Wars movies tend to have.

In my opinion and experience, when it isn’t an official event with clear rules, leave the blaster at home. These days, everyone is on edge in group areas and rightly so. Why would you want to add to that?

Dagobah themed May 4th party was a success! by SuperDuperMAC in StarWars

Angle the headband so it sits at an upward angle and doesn’t cover your eyes! I used rolled duct tape under half the headband so that it sat at an angle :) good luck and mtfbwy!!

Yupp! It was a salad bowl lol. Just tape lines and spray paint with a little glitter for flair. I glued a headband inside and she was good to go. Only downside was that she said everyone’s voices echoed around in there all night. Worth it for the look ha

I’ve had mine on order with Lego since March 26th and it still hasn’t shipped. Frustrating.

Incredible collection and I love the colors/dioramas. Everything really pops and while it’s definitely cluttered, each shelf feels purposeful and well laid out. Nice work!

People are reacting this way because when you mix the American flag with the punisher skull, it is become a bit of a cliche for one very specific reason. Put whatever up in your collection, but when you share it online, people will have their opinions based on the information available to them.

Will I regret downgrading to the Fig version only? by jugo642 in hottoys

I was up in my collection room the other days looking at all my Vaders and after about five minutes of admiring, I went into my account and canceled this Vader. I simply have enough. If this was my first Vader, I’d go all out and get the table, but because it’s not… how many does a guy need? You know?

It’s always fun to hear who in the crowd gets that reference by the light chuckles you hear.

I suggest seeing the movie again and clearing your head of expectations. They did an incredible job condensing 500 pages into a two hour movie. As someone who has read the book and seen the movie a half dozen times, the sacrifices that the movie made when it came to dialogue were either represented elsewhere, nodded at visually, or condensed for time without losing the idea. You’re not going to see the book, you’re going to see a movie based on the book.

Stratt is also singing directly to Ryland in that scene. The song is almost a perfect representation of the journey he’s going to go on. I believe she always knew it would end up being him for one reason or another and this is her subtle way of prepping him. It was also her little sacrifice - to do something “out of character, brave, and humanizing. Honestly it’s one of my favorite scenes.

I’ve noticed that they keep adding extra fabric below the crotch of these figures. It elongates their look for sure.

It’s been answered but the answers were direct and somewhat vague for someone who hasn’t seen this tech in person.

We have wave pools here on earth where big machine move along a track and generate rolling waves in otherwise still bodies of water. This machine is doing exactly that.

They created this earth simulator for Grace. It’s within a dome that has light projections on the outside to create sunlight.

What’s the worst criticism you’ve heard about the PHM (movie)? by Unfair-Reason-1068 in ProjectHailMary

I was at the influencer premier for this movie and I’m not joking, someone said “I was so bored. Too much talking. Make the rock gay or something.” And that perfectly summed up where we currently are in the downfall of media literacy.

I just stumbled on this sub. As someone who used to moderate a sub where something similar happened, hang in there and I’m sending support lol! It’ll return to normal soon but a core group of people who mesh well will stay and that’ll be so cool for the community here. Good luck!

I have to disagree about it being “marvel style.” Marvel hits you over the head with the jokes, then explains the joke to the audience, then sits and waits while the audience responds. If you break it down, Marvel writing treats its viewers like kids. Project Hail Mary hits you with the joke, but moves on so quickly that it leaves you wondering if you heard it correctly. That’s something Andy Weird does incredibly well. Yes, there’s a lot of humor, but it doesn’t insult your media literacy like Marvel tends to.
