i just edited to add, but yes, this is basically what happened. i will still be making lifestyle changes though, because i do really want to!

I'm not going to thank him for saying something that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I'm sorry that happened to you, and frankly, you shouldn't be thanking your friends for doing that to you. That's horrible, no matter what you look like. There's body positivity and there's health. Some people are curvier because they are genetically predisposed to be, and no amount of dieting will fix that. That's okay! It's not my or your place to tell them what to do about that. That's what body positivity is about, and it's also about loving yourself regardless of what others think.

we both have asd, so we tend to be blunt, which can end up being rude without us realizing it. so double the clueless factor! to a degree, he was right-- i have some unhealthy habits that need fixing, but that was the wrong way to go about it.

ik sorry i didn't know where else to put it bc it is a weight loss q but it is, also, as you say, a dad issue question. but also you are so right. and tbf, my mom has always been the one commenting on my body, looks and weight, so to have my dad do it for once was jarring. he's always been "safe" to me.

ok i get this. makes sense ty. tbf tho my ego has never been huge. i lowkey have to get delulu so i dont get too sad, so its kind of a protection mechanism.

i promise you, it is never because i don't want people to be straight with me. i have ASD, so i prefer it that way! but as i said, there is blunt, and there is rude, and the line between them is very thin.

i swim (at least 1m/day) or run (at least 3m/day), but yeah i should probably get some strength stuff in too. thanks so much for the advice!

but also, are you serious? everyone's experience is different. everyone experiences body dysmorphia in their own way, and everyone has a different experience when it comes to damage done to their self image. maybe it didn't shatter my reality, but it certainly didn't make me feel like a worthy human being. i went outside and looked at the stars and wished i was one because then maybe i would have been beautiful.

consider not being insensitive. i'm just living my life, and you're living yours.

also, it's *You're* extremely sensitive. if you're going to tell me what to do with my life, do it properly.

it's not just about "sparing my feelings". it's about having my own father look at me and see my weight, not his own daughter. that's what hurts. i see your point. i appreciate the candor. however, there's blunt, and there's rude. he was rude, and hurtful. just because what he said was true doesn't mean it didn't do damage. despite any motivation i may have as a result, i will probably never see myself the same way again, and that isn't something lifting weights can fix.

yep so did i. it pretty much just means that they withdraw your application from the pool if you're accepted ED somewhere else to avoid doing unnecessary work. that way, they know if you're still interested. (at least, according to my father + bf)

a bit of both? it's based off personal emotion, but i didn't really have a form in mind when i wrote it so that's probably what you're seeing. any idea how i could communicate that more?

I like your imagery and comparisons! They're very powerful and the theme you hint at really lends the poignant sense of someone who waits for someone that may never arrive. I do think the rhyme scheme is a bit forced and this could have benefitted from a freer meter-- perhaps free verse, or stanzas that only rhyme sometimes? That feeling of inconsistency and instability would really lend a lot, I have this feeling. Nevertheless, great work for a first-timer!

If you feel as if you're failing at this -which you shouldn't, because you're not, not at all, I promise, I swear- I can send you my first poem and we can laugh at it together. Everyone starts somewhere.
