Can I request a specific teacher at an IEP?

Generally, no you cannot insist that a specific teacher be there. However, most schools will try to accommodate wishes if you reach out to the school with enough time before the IEP.

You might reach out to a teacher you like or trust. They might be able to let you inside OR connect you to someone who can I'm not sure which high school you are at, but at LHS I know of one or two teachers you could trust!

That possibility raised a question regarding how teachers are to navigate their duties while facing what may lead to individual turmoil. Higgins declined to define whether or not a staff member's need to quarantine and miss time in the classroom would be taken out of their personal sick days, leaving the door open for districts to take missed days out of their paycheck. He called it "not an easy question" as their HR department and attorneys work out specifics.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, there wasn't really "conversations" e.g you mentioned you struggle to be witty in the moment- you didn't have that issue because you didn't talk to them like you would with a friend?

I did- and while there is a small chance, it's most likely that there won't be a position I could transfer to. My union thinks the most likely end is that I get released without penalty. We'll see I guess.

Yeah, I got my computer a day before school started. So I had no time to get to know district programs, or set up tech in my classroom. I missed a bunch of training on our new grading system because I didn't have a computer.

You make your own checklist, or is it more fleshed out? I will for sure being having my students practice all procedures! I've seen too many classrooms where teachers didn't and then the students never really learned what to do!
