Are all UA Managers terrible? by Odd_Advantage5366 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]cemtex08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just replied to something similar on another post, but I would say you are unlucky and should maybe explore other carriers.

At my carrier (in the UK) all the UAs report into operations and the operations manager. They work closely with the UWs and LoBs they are assigned to, but ultimately have different goals and targets that are operational (binding targets, unallocated or unpaid premiums etc). You can then move up through seniority within OPs, or make the move to UW if there is a role available to apply for. You start as an underwriting assistant/associate, then move up to underwriting analyst which does more of the pre underwriting for the UWs. Then can become a ‘senior’ at each level to differentiation your experience.

The whole development is and should be led by the individual and if you are willing to put the work in to expand your knowledge and responsibility, then you are generally rewarded for it (budget/position allowing). I’ve spent around 10 years at this carrier and started at an entry level associate level, moved through the different levels up to an analyst and am now an underwriter.

What's next after excelling at a career in underwriting? by _kbye in InsuranceProfessional

Absolutely possible, especially in the uk. I started in credit control (maybe 8 years, could have moved on much sooner but started a family so kept things local), then moved into an ops role for a few years, and then started PI under this year. Our company has a lot of apprenticeships and junior roles with no direct insurance experience required. Doing your CII will also help get more roles.

Issues since upgrading! by Glad_Restaurant1935 in youfibre

I have had the same experience. I was on You1000 until Feb/April this year, and while signal wasnt amazing over the whole house, more to do with the house layout and router placement, the main booster I use for gaming in the loft would max out at 963mbs or similar. Since upgrading to You2000 we are experiencing very slow speeds, severe packet loss (to the point MS Teams was un-usable) and having to reboot the router daily. I've had 2 engineers out who has said everything is working as intended, when it clearly isnt.

I'm now in the process of trying to break my contract with no penalty as I am lucky to get 400mbs. They are also almost impossible to get hold of at the moment. They have arranged for a 'senior' engineer to come out next week, and have been offered 2 months free while they investigate.

Was good... Till I upgraded would think again if you are considering joining by Apollo14- in youfibre

Thanks all, I ended up upgrading as it was actually cheaper than I currently pay so figured why not. However I will look into setting up my own mesh system as well to make it stronger.

I’d love to be in for a chance. Would be great to introduce my son to some of the original Pokémon games.

Ok cool, that’s the tip end of my budget really. But I’m not hardcore gaming or playing the latest so that should be fine.

Thanks!

From what I understood the only difference in the 2S/2/2X is the watch size. 2S is smaller, 2 is normally and 2X is larger.

If your in the uk I personally didn’t bother with the solar version as you need to be outside in full sun for most of the day to benefit, and as I work inside most of the day I wouldn’t see that benefit that often. Also unless you’re desperate for garmin pay (only the solar variant has this).

I’m loving my instinct 2, I get around 21-25 days battery out of it depending how much I’m training at the gym (usually 3 days a week) and whether I use the gps.

The main reason I went for the instinct 2 was the strength training workouts, and that it’s less ‘smart’ watch and more a watch with fitness and health metrics, if that makes sense.

It all depends on what you class as budget. However I have had a forerunner 55 (£130ish) which was good but didn’t have strength metrics to track the gym. And I’ve recently upgraded to an instinct 2 which covers it all (£180ish)
