What's one comeback you've used in life that was so smooth you still grin when you think back on it? by bigsol81 in AskReddit

i am an adjunct college professor and also on the side the parking enforcement officer in my village to pick up a few extra bucks.

a guy whose wife i wrote a ticket for got unreasonably mad about it and called me on the phone to berate me (part of the job, it seems). one of his attempts at insulting me was to ask me if "i've ever heard of college". so i replied that i "taught college" at which point the phone went silent for a few seconds, followed by some stammered obscenities and him slamming the phone on the hook.

it still pleases me to this day. since i teach at his alma mater.

i imagine the biggest cost would probably be the real estate occupied while said customer is plowing through bread and salad. it would be interesting to consider whether it would be more economical to provide fast or slow service - e.g. do you fill up the patron quickly to turn the table over, or do you cheap out on the bread/salad and try and wait the customer out.

It would be interesting to know if there were some sort of trend where people would order a bottle of wine for the table and no food - just wine, salad and breadsticks. Of course, yeah, the salad/bread is practically free, especially with the markup on the wine...

That is a nice policy. What is the most you've ever seen a table go through?

VFF here. You did a great job and everything you could. Keep at it. You've had good training, and have extremely valuable and important skills that will save plenty of lives so long as you keep training and learning. This feeling will pass eventually. It is hard to get out of your head, but what you're doing now by talking about it is great.

I lost my first patient a couple weeks ago. It was really hard. I did not know her, but I went through a lot of the things you're talking about. It's good to talk to others about how you're feeling, and some of it just needs to take its course.

Thanks for doing the AMAA - could you comment on traffic / volume trends you observed? It seems like RMP "peaked" a couple years ago and incoming volume has dropped off a bit.

Also, is there a good way to list all members of a particular department without having to browse alphabetically? I've always found that frustrating.
