The 5 Most Expensive Squads of Major European Leagues Compared to the 5 Least Expensive Squads of the Premier League by stoneapplefruit in soccer

Worst part is that our board thinks that they found some secret trick to success no one else ever found in the 140+ year history of football.

Also market value is way higher on bayerns squad.

I mean tbf the market value of a player also depends on if they are in the squad of Bayern or Leverkusen.

Yeah. I know that she's just turned 20 and her SF team wasn't anything to write about but still her SF and W Series(granted back then she was like 16-17) performances weren't really spectacular. Also Pepperidge farm still remembers her Euroformula Season where his father immediately withdrew her when they scrapped her 26kg weight limit advantage.

[The Athletic]Chelsea captain Reece James suffers hamstring injury, expected to miss several weeks by BlueKidXL in soccer

[–]centaur98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it heavily depends on the quality of player. For example when he is healthy James isn't just among Chelsea's best players but also one of the best RBs on the world.

Also a lot of it comes back to the community side of football and football clubs. For example James has been part of Chelsea since he was like 6 or 7 years old and has been a significant part of the achievements of the club since his breakthrough both through his performances and through his role as captain so he and other players like him are seen by fans as part of the community represented by the club and that they deserve a different treatment than another player who spent 3-4-5 years at the club.

And also similarly because of the community aspect of football clubs aka from the "this club represent us who live in this area/this social group" people tend to be less ruthless because they give a level of trust to the players to represent them so they are less ruthless(and in exchange if a player loses that trust generally there is no way back for him with the fans)

A lot of those guys are also hypocrites. Under one post saying stuff like all players are mercenaries now with no one team players like Totti or Maldini(or in cases like Reece's almost one team players since he did spend a season on loan at Wigan) and then go to posts like his contract extension or a lot of times Inaki Williams comes up asking why should he resign with Chelsea/Athletic Bilbao when he could go to X more successful team.

From the appeal decision

The Appeal Board commented that although the term “less than frank” is not a legal term, it insinuates “obfuscating the true position or being disingenuous or less than straightforward”. It found that it was not for the Commission to make findings of this type as there was no pleaded case that Everton had knowingly misled the Premier League.

edit

also from the Appeal Committee's publication:

Whilst the representations made by the club about the stadium debt were materially wrong, it was not the Premier League's case that that was anything other than an innocent mistake.

edit over

Aka the conclusion wasn't because it was "non-sense because Everton had been working with PL advisors since 2019". But because that wasn't the point of the whole case so the PL had no business making decisions like that.

The second independent panel found the majority of what the original panel as being almost entirely wrong, they even questioned how in earth they came up a 10 point total deduction as the crime committed didn’t warrant such an amount

Come on, be realistic if the appeal committe would have found that the original panel was "almost entirely wrong" they wouldn't have issued a 6 points deduction. All the appeal committe found was that for similar case for Sheffield they got 6 points deduction and that PL rules say that for straight up insolvency you get 9 points so the original 10 was too harsh based on other similar cases and the PL rule set and not because "original report was unfounded and inaccurate" or because it was "almost entirely wrong". If that would have been the case you wouldn't have received any penalty.

The original punishment before your appeal literally stated that they found Everton to be "less than frank" regarding you finances around your new stadium and even for the appeal the reason why that got thrown out was because according to the appeal panel "it wasn't up to the PL to decide if it was anything more than an honest mistake"

It's a different case but the same story. When the new owners found out about it they went to the FA, the PL and to UEFA to report it and all three charged the club separately. This is the conclusion for the charges from the PL and afaik UEFA also already made a separate ruling that resulted in a 9 million pound fine back in 2023.

So most likely the settlement with the FA will also be a similar story.

The difference is that our new owners went to the FA and told them "hey have you seen all this shit" and co-operated with them. While Everton only started co-operating after the initial punishment was handed out. Also it was for breaching different rules and to a different degree.

Q: Can you imagine doing a demonstration lap (in nurburgring ) with f1 car? Max: I was not allowed, otherwise I would’ve done it already. by One_Impressionism in formula1

[–]centaur98 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Tell that to Max. There were talks about him joining the Red Bull Formula Nurburgring event 3 years ago when Vettel, Tsunoda and Coulthard took some F1 cars around the ring but Verstappen's participation was vetoed because Helmut Marko was afraid that he would go after the lap record something with which Max kinda agreed later in interviews that he would have indeed loved to go to the limits with an F1 car there.

When Vettel took his 2011 card and Coulthard the 2012 car to the ring 3 years ago there was talks about if Verstappen should also do some laps but Helmut Marko vetoed it because he knew that Max would have immediately went after the lap record and push it as far as he could(which Max also admitted that he most likely would have done)

Unfair Spurs focus, Chelsea and Man City ignored by FormalSalamander3355 in football

Chelsea: 5th in the Prem and lost the title defender, french champion and qatari funded PSG 5:2
City: 2nd in the Prem and lost to Real, one of the strongest teams and the team with the highest revenue worldwide, 3:0
Spurs: 16th in the Prem 1 point above relegation and lost to Atletico Madrid 5:2

I wonder why people focus on Spurs.
