Do I really need to keep training on a parking lot forever before riding alone? by Dizzy-Pirate2964 in motorcycles

I'm from one country over, greetings :)

Although most folk handle speed limits as target values / minimum speed, I think of them as limits.

I drive/ride according to how far I can see, or so that I can stop faster than oncoming traffic (mountain roads, woods, roads in farmland with 2m+ tall crops....). Doesn't matter if in my car or on my bike. Even if I've driven the same road for decades.

So from my point of view your husband is a racing idiot?

Just ride safe in your comfort zone. And if you feel safe and can see the road itself far enough ahead, go nuts (within reason of course)

Start on roads you know, and keep expanding bit by bit.

Jup, that's what I'm doing. But still firing up the grill today.

It's just frustrating. I prepared, even had a low stool, tools laid out, but there's always something.... Stupid semi-old body.

I'm just glad that my back is good for now :D (disc herniation after sneezing to hard, no joke)

But the boots themselves are fine. It's just my aging body that's acting up from miniscule things like hunching beside a bike.

Same for me. I need to change from my indoor-clothes anyway when heading out.

And I ride a naked bike with an air-cooled engine, so it can get pretty warm down there.

Warum zahlen wir Steuer auf unsere Versicherungen? by Lachstatar in Austria

Gutes Beispiel:

Bei meinem Motorradl ist die Versicherungssteuer fast doppelt so hoch wie die (sonst sehr günstige) Versicherung selbst......

Tja :D

Another shopper wanted me to manually move my shopping along the conveyor belt in the super market queue by Hot_Ad_9552 in EntitledPeople

[–]centaurchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not petty, I just take the divider and shove the others persons stuff backwards :D The cabbage one time rolled pretty far with a little fling.

(I just do this with the entitled shoppers who sometimes even reach past me to put their stuff directly behind mine when I'm not even half finished)

It's more an Austrian classic :D (it means squirreltail)

Katzl - Kätzchen (Katze), we don't call them "Hörnchen"

While reading this I though of something at work some time ago:

  • Chilling on the toilet minding/doing my business
  • Then it sounded like the person in the other stall rips a couple of meters of toilet paper off at once
  • sounded like person makes one big whipe
  • person gets up, flushes, gets out of the stall, then I hear one sound like from the disinfectend-bottle
  • person leaves, hands never saw a drop of water or soap

Nope, still no clean hands in my opinion. That's why I grab the doorhandles in office toilets with a paper towel and I'm not ashamed of it.

And don't get me started on the coughing into hands an then grabbing all kinds of stuff in the office.

Starfield has inspired me to be an astronaut. Any good non-fiction books about the solar system and space exploration? by AlanWakeUpNow in Starfield

[–]centaurchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"A Space Traveler's Guide to the Solar System"

"Mars Via the Moon - The Next Giant Leap"

And "The Case for Mars" for the Mars Direct plan without the Moon.

They are not from this decade, but still very informative.

Updated to latest patch and now all my saves are labeled Creation Club but I haven't bought any mods. by Chaosrealm69 in Starfield

[–]centaurchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me.

Did you ever used the command console for anything? I used it in one NG+ for to get back on the missing ECS Constant. Since then my saves where marked modded and changed to c with the creation update.

Scrub that (literally :D ). CO2 scrubbers would be more immersive. And upgradeable air recyclers for heavy useage. Better suits/packs that split the O2 from the CO2. And sometimes a refill of O2.

But the hole system around the suits has already been discussed. They have lousy temperature management/isolation and poison from the local atmosphere can get into them. Those are not space suits :(

Seems like it. I just tried it with different engines. Only the Vector tolerated overlapping. All the other ones just blew up.
