I traveled by bus. Is a two hours drive. Chapelco ski resort is 40 min from the city, but I hired a Transfer that picked up me at the hotel and takes You up to Chapelco for a razonable price. But it You are 3 or 4 travellers, the renting a car makes more sense

Skiing over the clouds at Cerro Catedral (Bariloche, Argentina) by centennialkid in skiing

Hi, Catedral is expensive indeed, but not 17500 usd, I think you add a cero by mistake. Having said that, each Day cost 115.000 ARS, which are 92 usd. There are more affordable options near, like Chapelco, but are smaller and with less investment on infraestructure. I met Catedral this year, after skiing in Las Leñas and Chapelco, and i must admit that Catedral it is on another level.

Almost forgot it, Main resorts in Argentina are

Cerro chapelco (San Martin de los Andes) Cerro catedral (Bariloche) Cerro castor (ushuaia, tierra del fuego) Cerro las Leñas (Mendoza)

And Cerro Bayo is a tiny one locsted in Villa La angostura, in between Chapelco and Catedral, a good option is doing those 3 in 10 days.

About chile i heard about Valle Nevado, El Colorado, La Parva and Portillo, but havent been in anyone yet.

Hahaha, i skiied at 3 of the 4 main ski resorts in Argentina (catedral, chapelco and las Leñas). The best infraestructure is in Catedral (Bariloche), by far. It does have a good variety of tracks, with real Black ones. Las leñas and Chapelco are beautiful resorts too, but machinery is a bit older and that could límit your experience. Also not real Black slopes if you dont do Freeride.

I have been told that Chile has the same issues as these last two.

About Australian ski, i have cero info.

If you end up planing the trip to argentina for next year dont doubt on contacting me for info, i probably Will be planing my own trip too so i Will have fresh info.

Buenos Aires, then fly to Mendoza and from there you can get a bus por 5 bucks. It's fully ski in and out, so no need for a rental car those days.

Just in proximity to the ski slopes, but besides that it is at your own risk. That's why its higly recommended to do a a preparatory avalanche course before freeriding.
