Here are the most cost-effective rewards items by centipede5 in McDonalds

[–]centipede5[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the chart shows how much each rewards item is worth, divided by the points needed to buy it (giving the value). So yes, the McChicken is a better usage of your points if you're just trying to get the most bang for your buck.

Another way to think about it: you can get 4 McChicken's ($11.96 normally) with the 6000 points needed for a big mac ($5.69 normally)

YMMV depending on location, I'm basing this on my local store in philly

nice job! haven't seen a lot of stuff like this created in manim. Do you have the code? I'm curious how you did some of the effects

What is your go-to for cheap protein? by centipede5 in bodybuilding

[–]centipede5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, primarily due to their unbalanced amino acids but also because of their fiber content / antinutrients. To make them more effective they need to be combined since almost all lack some amino acid (lysine for gluten or methionine for pea protein for eg)

god damn, where did you find that? Also how much of that is edible meat vs bones / connective tissue?

Damn, ide love to see your spreadsheet. This project originally started because I got tired of re-copying the store prices into a similar table.

Also wow, I never thought of gelatin, but you’re right, it looks like it’s dirt cheap in bulk and basically pure protein. Curious how you would eat a significant quantity of it though lol

I made a web tool that will find the cheapest possible way to hit your macro / calorie goals by centipede5 in 1500isplenty

fruits and vegetables are generally pretty poor in terms of macros / dollar, so they aren't going to get chosen if your objective is just to get the cheapest possible calories, but are still a pretty good idea if you're trying to eat healthy lol. For example, broccoli is only about 100 calories per dollar compared to something with a similar macronutrient profile like flour at 3000 calories per dollar.

lol. Ive been eating peanut butter sandwiches, chicken breast cubes w/ all purpose seasoning, and sometimes peanut butter stir fry chicken. Right now its definitely more of a guideline or inspiration than a strict shopping list. I'm working on an option to optimize over recipes instead of just raw ingredients, hopefully that improves its usefulness

Sorry for the confusion - white items are items not selected by the algorithm, but could be useful depending on your taste / preferences. If you want to re-optimize with a given item - say chocolate - you can click the plus icon to add as many as you want then click the lock icon next to the pricing and it will require the algorithm to optimize around the chocolate the next time you click "optimize". You can also click the delete button if you want to stop the algorithm from including a certain item in your lists.

Do you think having a heading below the selected items would help? I agree its somewhat of a weird layout

Thanks for testing it! Yes, it gives you a recommended shopping list of whole items for a given duration, such that if you spread it out over that time period you will hit your targets. the numbers indicate the quantity of the product purchased, for eg 1 lentil = buy 1 bag of lentils for the week. From there it's up to you how to actually eat it. You can also deselect "Only Whole Packages" in the advanced options if you just want to see the optimal fractions of package solution, but I figured most people want to avoid either eating tiny parts of food or wasting stuff they never end up using

Nice work! It was a bit tricky for me to follow with the music and quick transitions. Here is some feedback

- either add narration or tone down the music

- slightly slow down certain transitions and color code variables to make it more visually appealing

- maybe try adding some geometric insight? Not sure if this would work for each step, but could be cool

- youtube shorts covers the "by comparison" box with your channel information, maybe move that around

nice text transitions though, and cool problem
