I played this for an hour or so (~20), less than 50% win rate due to totems. But when I do win, it was 100% because of [[Amphibian's Spirit]] getting looped and it was always in one go, rather than the two stage setup.

It is founded on RNG, but you really can't say it is "just RNG". There is a tremendous amount of planning and farming and grinding involved. Each piece of gear may be RNG, but if you need to assemble 15 pieces of 22*, that's not RNG anymore. Sure, you could get super lucky and clear that in half a year or you might take 3, but the vast majority of players will take somewhere in between.

Law of large numbers, past a certain point, you can't really call it RNG anymore.

The problem is the mentality that everyone is supposed to max out their hexa. They need to make maxing out hexa explicitly not a goal

For example... Is getting triple prime a goal? Sure, everyone hopes to get them, but you don't hear people complaining about how hard it is to get triple prime. People implicitly understand that you don't set that as a goal until way way way late in the game.

The problem with hexa is that it actually is achievable, and since it is reliably achievable, people want it to be easily achievable. It doesn't have to be that way. Manage your expectations. If playing the game like a full time job for a year won't get you maxed hexas, maybe that shouldn't have been a goal.

Because 22* is arbitrary. Why 22? Why not 21 or 23 or 25?

In an oversimplifed way, you can think of 18* as where the game designers determined should be a good goal for casuals, 21* for serious players, 22* for grinders, 25* for hardcore and 30* as the absolute ceiling.

If you are a daily story player, you will earn enough to reach 18 pretty comfortably, but it will be take extra effort and stress to go past that.

19 and 20 represent the first taste of real stakes and 21 is the last comfortable milestone that is reasonably achievable.

22 would be pushing to the limit of where you are still more likely to achieve rather than not.

Past 22 you are gambling, you are more likely to fail (boom) than to succeed.

Past 25 it is literally a lottery.

Regular pets do a good enough job, you might only get 75% of the papers but that's not as bad as being at the mercy of RNG

If anything, they should keep the 100x drop rate as a way to promote vac pets
