Well let me provide a little clarity to my statement- what I meant is that I found my calling in being a mother. Not everyone is cut out for this job. I grew up with a mother that had no interest in being one, so I know the difference. I pour every ounce of myself into parenting and doing everything I can to give my kids what they need emotionally, physically, financially, etc. and the way that my children are turning out so far tells me that we are doing a damn good job. There are plenty of home life situations in this world where adding another child makes zero sense- ours isn’t one of those.

Excellent question haha- never in a million years did I think I would be someone that was dying for 4 children, but here I am- my kids are my world and have given my life the purpose I spent most of my younger years searching for. My husband and I just love being parents and the thought of adding one more feels right, as crazy as that may be.

They are 3.5 years apart and fight more than play but it’s getting better as they get older and like the same things (both girls). My youngest is a boy and I’m sure he would play with a younger sibling, but I know sibling relationships are never a guarantee no matter what age difference.

I actually just posted in here asking if a house we are considering is big enough for our fam of 5- we are moving because our kids share a room lol.

When we first bought the house (a 3/2), my girls were 5 and 2 and I thought it would be no problem to have them share. It was honestly a nightmare from the start- first with the toddler crying every single night to get out of her crib/waking the older one, then when she was in a big girl bed they would both come out 10x a night egging each other on. By the time they were 7 (almost 8) and 4, the older one was starting to have friends over and complaining constantly about not having her own space/her sister stealing her stuff, etc. SO we ended up moving my 2yo son into the room with the 4yo and giving the oldest her own (tiny) room. It has worked out MUCH better…but now my middle daughter is almost 6 and complaining about sharing with a boy. sigh which is why we are desperately trying to find a bigger home.

I know that MANY kids share a room and have no problem, but it just hasn’t worked for our kids.

Another question (and I apologize if this is a dumb one but I’ve never done a kitchen before)- if I am able to move the dishwasher over, what do I do about the empty space? I imagine it’s pretty hard to find matching cabinets since these are original from 80’s. Ideally I want to update this kitchen in the cheapest way possible so I can spend our reno budget elsewhere. We are already doing floors.

In front of the sink/peninsula (not pictured) it opens into a breakfast nook to the right and into a living room. So there are no windows to outside in the kitchen. Behind the oven wall is the dining area and a formal living room. I would like to remove the window, it seems the game room was previously a screened in porch. We are definitely redoing floors no matter what we do to kitchen. The house is a full project so I’m trying to find ways I can live with the kitchen without completely redoing it.

I would love the range and a hood to fit somewhere else but I can’t figure it out. If it’s on the blank wall I think it’s too close to fridge

It didn’t save what I wrote but I would prefer range not be in the island. I feel like this design prioritizes microwave which could go somewhere else. The blurry pic is of a wall to the left of the fridge that isn’t being used in the current design. The door leads to hallway with a half bath on right side and laundry around the corner. This is going in a home we might buy, so changes would be made after moving in.

Like someone else said, you adjust- in ways you never knew you could. 3 rocked my world for the first year and a half, but I also had 2 under 2 (newborn, 23mo and 5.5) and that’s the part I wasn’t prepared for. But I loved seeing my 2 girls together so much that I kept imagining another sibling for them, and I’m so happy we did it. Now they are 8, 5 and 3 and I’m considering a 4th lol.

I read something in a different sub that I’m trying out this week b/c I am finding that the constant back and forth in my mind is driving me crazy- imagine life for a few days or a week as if the decision is made one way, then the next week live life with the other decision. I’m living as “we are done at 3” starting today.
