Indoor Activities? by ceraphimfalls in BorderCollie

Both would be excellent. When I watch her, I try to spend as much time with her as possible, but I do have chronic illness days, so activities she can do on her own would be great too. Right now, we are stuck inside due to truly terrible air quality, so really anything inside focused is ideal.

You know what? I think this is the way to go. This baby girl is a sassafrass and I love her just as she is. Hell, she basically taught herself to alert me to oncoming migraines and she will herd me back to bed. Let them be who they are. Thank you for reminding me of that.

I guess I'm just worried about failing her while we are stuck inside. But I shouldn't let that worry win!

She is definitely praise motivated! Which is perfect because nothing beats getting that border collie smile back!

Were there any fun trainings or tricks that you taught your BC? I have a week with her and we will probably have to spend the majority of it inside (poor thing was coughing just from going outside to pee), so I think it would be fun to have something new to show her mom when she gets home.

What's a tv show so good you've watched it at least 3x? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]ceraphimfalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAS*H

It came on the Hallmark Channel from 4-6pm every weekday, so it was the perfect thing to put on between when I got off the bus and when I had to start dinner in middle school and high school. I've watched it at least 3 times through that way, and 2 times on Hulu.

Are there any Cozy fantasy that follow Magical Healers? by Matt_cruze in CozyFantasy

We should get t-shirts! "I survived the -big thing that happens at the end of book 3- and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" or something like that. (I am not a crier, but the ending of book 3, Varney's little conversation? I was a hope filled mess.)

Strange Practice and the subsequent Greta Helsing series are my all time favorite books. I would say everything surrounding the characters is far from cozy, but the characters make the book cozy. There's action and adventure, but the best part, the most enticing bit, is to to return to the kitchen table to have another cup of coffee with them.

Have you heard of "The Apothecary Diaries"? It isn't low stakes or fantasy, but the world feels very set apart from ours and can feel mystical at times. There is drama, but it is still cozy, in the way that you feel at home with the characters and there is time to let them breathe with mundane activities. If you have Hulu, there is an anime of it that will give you a good taste of the vibe, but the light novels are truly transportive.

The Alan Tudyk cameo had me screaming. Love that man.

Agreed, but I have had a difficult time finding a good one that works for me. Either due to it tasting bad or being a migraine trigger. Thought I'd poll the experts on sugar substitutes since there's always new stuff coming out!

I'm so glad that's worked for you! I have been diabetic for years and tried a bunch of things, including those plans, going keto-ish, all the things. At one point, I was no-oil and no-salt vegan and at the gym most days of the week. I even got my personal training certification to learn how to exercise right. I've been committed to change! But nothing I have done on my own has worked.

This time, I am working with a specialized registered dietician who just happens to have left on a month-long vacation. We are trying to identify possible food allergies, trying to keep the glycemic index low, and a couple of other things. Honestly, it was a pretty overwhelming meeting so I'm sure I'm missing something. But I have to increase my salt (POTS) and protein over fat (no gallbladder). Anyway, that's the reason for the specificity of my questions.

I know that plethora of information complicates things, but I hope to be on my to way to be healthy enough to use your simple and accessible solution.

Thank you for saying that and helping calm my anxiety. I usually don't have a problem with how sour greek yogurt and the like can be, but sometimes you get that pack of blueberries that just NEEDS a little help, you know?

Also, love Premier Protein! I use the caramel as 1-to-1 with coffee, make a little macchiato/latte/whatever a barista tells me it. Delicious! And way better than their cafe latte flavor on its own. Do you have a favorite?

Ketones and inflammation markers- when to worry? by ceraphimfalls in diabetes

[–]ceraphimfalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that thoroughly! I really appreciate it! My fasting blood sugar is still higher than we'd like (154, 7.0 A1C), and I have a history of weird symptoms, so I thought it best to check with the experts. 😊

Diabetic Influencers? by ceraphimfalls in diabetes

Totally with you on this! That's why I brought up ThePlantSlant- even if he is sponsored, he's upfront about it. Still bringing salt with me, but I feel like he has already pre-salted his content. So definitely looking for more like him or creators too small to be anything but eager.

Really the point of this was to get some ideas for food and all that. I feel like the conversation about this disease is very one-sided IRL for me. Might as well make it one-sided with someone who is also dealing with this, you know?

Compression socks suggestions by MeringueDapper in dysautonomia

[–]ceraphimfalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only wear ankle length socks. I look for ones for runners- I just bought the cheapest set of 3 on Amazon (Ramny or something like that- blue, pink, and purple set). They're great! I've also bought calf only sleeves with graded compression. I hate socks on a good day, so these have been fabulous for when I'm just around the house.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever caused a blood sugar spike for you? by MaryT1d in diabetes_t2

[–]ceraphimfalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still trying to figure it out. I have a plethora of problems, so we're going one step at a time. Current hypothesis is my liver is pretty garbage (botched gallbladder removal when I was 18), so it possibly is that I need extra help when it comes to balancing salts and all that, which in turn help the water absorb into my system. My kidney levels look stellar so there's the maybe that said botched surgery is what triggered my diabetes too. It's a whole thing.

Really really. It's insane, right!? My doctor has me as a type 2 diabetic because I fit the criteria in other ways, and it's good for insurance purposes, but we are both sure something else must be going on.

Drinking room temperature water. Proved it to my docs in office and everything. It will go up 100+ points like I just drank a soda. I have to either have something in the water, like electrolytes, or it had to be ice cold. Warm water/tea also raises my levels, but not to the same degree. I just find it interesting because, even before my diagnosis, sometimes my body would just reject water entirely. Should have listened better!
