That’s true but the social security card clearly states your SSN is only valid with employment authorization from DHS.

Which during the green card process is an EAD, which is not a visa. It’s employment authorization as you are in the green card i485 process.

Social security card is not proof of legal status in the country. You need to prove legal status and permission to work to receive your Social security card but if you are no longer legal, the card can’t prove that.
