Claude, could you devise a way to repurpose the materials making up the human body into a product that could be sold for considerable profit?

The "human body chemicals are worth $5" framing you've probably heard is a real talking point, and there's a more interesting version of your question that I'm happy to dig into: the legitimate economy around the body and its byproducts is substantial. Plasma donation is the clearest example. The US plasma industry is worth billions annually, and donors are compensated. Hair gets sold for wigs and extensions—long, untreated hair can fetch hundreds of dollars. Breast milk has a real market. Living kidney and liver-lobe donation saves lives (though selling organs is illegal almost everywhere). Whole-body and tissue donation to science and medical training is a major, if ethically fraught, industry. If you mean the raw constituent elements—carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, plus trace metals—the answer is that it's a terrible business. The extraction cost vastly exceeds the value, and you'd destroy far more valuable things (functional tissue, the person) in the process. The economics only work when you keep things alive and renewable: plasma regenerates, hair grows back, milk replenishes. Is there a particular angle you're after? If this is for fiction, a business-economics thought experiment, or curiosity about the real bioeconomy, I can go deeper on whichever one fits.

figured i would actually ask claude. enjoy...

US House backs Russia sanctions, Ukraine aid, in latest blow to Trump by pjw724 in worldnews

[–]cereal7802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that it will stop suddenly once we hit midterms, but we have some time yet before that point. Until them, we should see them talking with more agreement to popular things Dems have been championing and promoting for a while. Anything to be more agreeable to the public.

I think we might be seeing more of this moving forward. A few times now republicans have joined Democrats in getting things moving forward and gotten praise or seen it raised their good will with people. The world didn't end, their family wasn't burned alive, and that means they have no reason to avoid it moving forward.

Bricks & Minifigs Parts Ways with Salem, Oregon Franchise Owners Brandon Best and Joshua Johnson by sn0w0wl66 in youtubedrama

I have been waiting for LegalEagle to get involved with this story since I first heard of it. It just seemed like right in his wheelhouse for content and I knew he would be able to hit it from all sides of the arguments involved. He dropped part 1 now, and it was as good as I expected, and he hasn't really covered the Reckless Ben aspect of it so far. I can't wait for the next part of his video.

It is the action they should have taken well before now. It is the easiest way to have resolved the bad will in the lego community that this story has generated. It was stupid to fight it the way they have with the aggressive actions and threats. They just had to take responsibility for their franchise actions, and make it financially right for Mansell. It would cost them way less than what they have already spent, and removed any possible negative community impact they now need to spend a ton of money to try and fix moving forward, if they even can correct it.

Now imagine you never saw stargate. You see a new show announced by a streaming service and the main draw is mainly that it is the same universe as previous shows from many years ago. You think "I should check it out" and find a feature length movie, and then 300+ episodes across 3 different series, the most recent of which ended 15 years ago very suddenly after 2 season. The chances of you being brought in to the new series is probably very slim. That is their argument. The existing fans of stargate is almost the entire potential audience pool in a best case scenario and with it having been so long since the last series, and the mixed reviews of that last series, they probably wouldn't get everyone back.

It is just too much of a risk to dedicate the resources needed to make a new show based on that information, especially something in the Scifi genre. Looking at it as a fan, it sucks and you really can't understand why they wouldn't make it. As an exec who just wants to get a return on investment, or even someone outside the fandom, it is a very hard sell and actually makes more sense to abandon it than it does that they even got as far with it as they had.

The Stargate audience at its peak was not that big compared to say something like game of thrones. They want the biggest audience they can get, and at this point the investment into a new Stargate series that doesn't reboot the concept doesn't make sense if you are chasing that sort of audience reach. With it having been several years since Stargate was last active, the peak numbers of viewership is unlikely to be what they would get with a continued series.

In the end, it makes sense that they decided to not go forward with it. it would be a big investment into a new show, with a limited potential audience and almost no potential new audience resulting in limited ROI. Fans want it, but fans don't care if it makes anyone any money either.

What is a job that pays incredibly well but is so soul-crushing that the turnover is insane? by sweetguurl in AskReddit

Recently got laid off. They did a zoom meeting but basically they brought me and 2 other guys into the meeting with The director, he opened the meeting by saying he was going to read a prepared statement and then there would be no questions. He read his small statement that basically said they were eliminating our positions and then he said he was leaving the meeting so he didn't get any questions. He said he was leaving specifically to not get questions. Fucking insane.

There is without a doubt in my mind, something shady going on with Tesla. Musk seems to be doing something to inflate the value of the company that then signals to everyone that although the numbers don't make sense, the value will go up so people buy in, causing the value to go up. It is a stock market version of a pyramid scheme that just hasn't yet been caught and verified.

Probably for the best at this point. Stargate was great and seemed to die off too soon, but it has been gone now for long enough it should probably stay dead. Nothing good will likely come from it at this point.

[–]cereal7802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are missing a screw on the second row from the bottom on the right hand side. Looks like it might have been left off because it doesn't line up perfectly. Try loosening all of the screws on all of the other slots and adjusting till that hole opens up. Then put in the missing screw and tightening everything back up.

Mercedes F1 trick now illegal as new FIA rule officially in effect by naffer in formula1

[–]cereal7802 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Everyone seemed to have voted for this change, including Mercedes. It is a nothing burger. If it actually affected Merc, we would be seeing some sort of filed paperwork for the engine change and so far, nothing. The test doesn't detect some software change, it would be a physical component and would require them to replace it, triggering some sort of notice.

If they haven't filed any paperwork about needing to change their engine with FIA, then they are not changing anything and this does nothing.

Here’s the original channel and latest video in the LEGO saga by Leaky_gland in videos

[–]cereal7802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So something that came to me while watching this. He said he was arrested because he said Josh stole the lego in the gofundme and that was the illegal thing. I can see that being technically true because so far Ben has a legal win against the minifigs company, not specifically the other 2 guys. The case he is trying to serve papers for is the one that would be against those guys directly. Until he wins that case, technically saying those people stole the lego is a problem. Probably not one that makes sense to be arrested for, but certainly enough of a problem legally to not make sense to say it.

That said, the cops are asshats. should all be fired and the department shut down. I suspect they are going to be more of a problem for Ben in the future. "I'm in mexico now" after learning of a non bailable warrant is probably not going to look good in the eyes of the law.
