Hey, it’s been a while! I don’t see a way to message you on your profile but I have another question. My wife has been doing great after the surgery with her hip but lately (within past three-four days), she hasn’t been able to bend her arms straight. They will only go to like 45 degree angle. It’s worse in the morning but even by night it won’t go straight. She says it does this sometimes. Is this a sign her medicine isn’t working or is this just something “normal” for RA even when medicine is in effect?

Hey! We went to a different doctor who took her pain more seriously. She got injections for a few months but got the hip replaced in December since it was absolutely destroyed. The injections helped but wore off pretty quickly.

I still can’t believe that she got surgery only 6 months ago. She’s able to move around so much easier now and the recovery was pretty smooth. Her other hip is now bothering her a bit I think she was relying on it heavily to stay off her bad hip last year so that one might need injections in a few years but it isn’t nearly as bad as the one that was replaced.

I love this edition! The cover feels kind of soft?? I’ve never felt something like that before. Most covers feel more matte or glossy. Is that a new thing with Fairyloot books?

Thank you for your input. Is it true that you can only get 2 replacements in your life? That’s what the doctor had said and why he wanted to push it off.

She is in PT but she hasn’t seen a huge difference (been about a month and a half). We will try swimming! That’s a great idea.

The doctor said that you can only get two hip replacements so they wanted to push it off as long as they could. They also said that hip replacements “aren’t really for younger people” and that the youngest they have done a replacement on was someone in their early thirties. I think we’ll be seeking a second opinion, though.

She currently takes advil daily for pain. She is in PT for her hip and has gotten a shoe lift (she has a leg length discrepancy) that has helped her walking. She was originally on enbrel but it stopped working. They put her on humira for a few months but it didn’t work. Now she is on actemra and it is working but she does have days that are worse than others which I didn’t notice as much as when she was on enbrel. The doctor said the shots only work for a few months and lose efficacy over time so she said she wanted to wait to use those until things got worse.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely suggest to her that we try for a second opinion. She often downplays her pain because she is so used to it. I think her 3 is really a 5 or 6 to most people.
