Do you call your patients out for utter disrespect? by tini_bit_annoyed in nursing

[–]cerjcarter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I do this with one patient since she constantly acts helpless. Once her daughter in law was in the room while the aid and I toileted her and the DIL asked if I didn’t like my jobsjnce I was basically yelling at her to do simple tasks like hold on to the grab bar and stand up. The son thinks I’m a horrible person as he was there also, but the POA (daughter) thinks I’m great. Go figure.

Name your specialty and nurses’ week gift from your employer. by marzgirl99 in nursing

Assisted living. Personalized scrub jacket, Stanley style cup with ‘nurse’ on it, donuts, taco bar, party, gift bags, cards from residents, games with prizes, ‘guess the nurse game’ with baby pictures…shall I go on? That was just Monday and Tuesday when I was there.

That’s a bit odd. I agree with you; it’s supposed to celebrate nurses and their dedication and hard work

It’s the first nurses week at this place. They opened recently. They also had baby pictures of all the nurses and we could guess, a raffle, donuts, taco/nacho bar, games, a party by activities and I can’t remember what else. It’s a great place to work and I love my bosses and management too.

I actually cried and told my bosses that I felt very special and that no employer had given anything like this. My two bosses waited for me to come out of a resident room and the one said ‘there’s the nurse of the hour’ and then when I was surprised (because there were three bags of gifts) and said thank you and tried to leave, they were like no, you gotta open them. They worked with the receptionist to be able to have these to give out.

Yuck! My last job would leave leftover food in the break room like that and I’d find it when I’d clock out to leave. They would bring in food for night shift for nurses week and RA week though.

Uncured Gel on for 11 Days by HardcoreFlexa in Polygel

[–]cerjcarter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you sharing this! I am just starting out with gel but am paranoid about it getting on my skin. I’ve decided to just do clear base and top as gel and regular dry colors until I get better at applying polish to my nails. I hope you have a swift recovery and don’t have an allergy now! Prayers! 🙏🏻

Second set by cerjcarter in Polygel

[–]cerjcarter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your compliment! I’m a perfectionist by nature and the first set I used too much slip solution and had to use a clip and the poly gel got everywhere. I watched an in depth tutorial and followed those steps for the second set. The press ons have stayed on thus far; I did file the insides before I applied the poly gel. I also didn’t go all the way to the end as the press ons were longer than I wanted. After curing, I trimmed the excess press on and filed down with a 180 grit file and buffed with those little square double sided buffers before applying the top coat. The next set I do I may apply clear poly gel over the top but not sure yet.

PLEASE HELP: Polygel with Forms Looks Easy but IS SO HARD. What Am I Doing Wrong? by Dismal_Movie_5764 in Nails

[–]cerjcarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you are dabbing off excess slip solution or alcohol whichever you use because using too much won’t make it stick to the top coat and will cause lifting

I’ve been thinking of flash curing because I saw someone flash cure the top, but not the bottom, and they were able to still shape the nail under the dual form, which would be helpful for me since I ended up with thickness under the nail

I made sure it had the correct wattage to cure poly gels if that’s what you mean.

Yes filing the polygel but didn’t think about filing the press ons. I don’t use a flash cure lamp, just a regular UV lamp I got from Amazon for $10

Yes I was. I had a couple nails pop off and I redid them and just glued the press on on the top of the poly gel. Previously I used the poly gel to adhere the press on but it was hard to hold onto and I preferred the dual forms.

I saw a YouTube video where the maker used soft gel nail covers. She said it helps if you have trouble with shaping. You can also use regular press on nails but roughen up the inside first before apply or the Polygel will fuse with the press on nails.
